Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

"Scheduling"

I'm always a little surprised that people go to such effort to create a meme, but can't be bothered to check their spelling.

look. Yoda was a bit sauced, okay?

(this meme is still hilarious.)

He may be on Ketamine again.

Preoccupied driving his Honda Civic, he is.

I saw a great one the other week but they spelled restaurant wrong and then correctly in the next panel.

Like is there some online resource these people are using that doesn't have spellcheck built-in or are they just way too enthusiastic to post that they don't even look twice?

To be fair, scheduling has ridiculous spelling. English spelling in general is unhinged af

Because George wrote a 3 act story which was too big and detailed to be crunched into a 1.5 hour film. So he chopped it up into 3 parts, and started with part 1.

When Lucas was first making Star Wars, it originally had "Episode IV" in the title before he removed it and released the original without a number. He was worried it wasn't going to do well financially.

No, it was supposed to be a single movie, "Star Wars", but due to the success of it they started working on further movies.

No no, George totally had all nine films planned out in their entirety before they filmed Star Wars.

Edit: /s

I've heard this before, but I don't really believe it. George doesn't strike me as a "grand design" sort of guy. More like, this seems like a cool scene, add it!

Oh yeah, I don't believe it either. There are way too many inconsistencies between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy (and even within the original trilogy) for George to have planned the whole thing out ahead of time.

My favorite order is to watch Star Trek instead

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

That's a terrible watch order. Why would you start with Revenge of the Sith?

[–] mvpts@feddit.de 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I just rearranged the Episodes so that they match the word order from yoda (for OCD reasons).

Ooh, clever! I didn't catch that!

[–] boredsquirrel@slrpnk.net 4 points 4 months ago

When did they rename the order?
