Is this the man we want running for vice president? Knowing he could be off by an entire hour at any time?

Where can I sign up to not do this daylight saving time bullshit anymore?

[–] frickineh@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

We thought we were doing it in CO but it turns out actually, we can't just decide as a state, a certain number of other states also have to agree and then Congress has to say we're allowed so it's never gonna happen.

I'm what Arizona doesn't do it, why are they special snow flakes?

Arizona stays on standard time year-round. Any state could choose to do it tomorrow, easy-peasy.

Several states have passed bills to observe daylight savings time year-round, which for reasons I don't understand requires Congressional action to implement.

I know some people get heated over this, but I'll say it: year-round daylight savings time is dumb. The number on the clock is arbitrary; it's the semiannual change that's problematic. We should leave Congress out of it, stick to standard time, and put this issue to bed already. There's no need to permanently cosplay as the timezone to your east.

I was about to say "yeah, but" and mention some stuff about seasonal depression, car accidents, etc... but maybe you're right. Both sides somehow have studies supporting their way of doing it, so maybe the path of least resistance is the best way.

Indiana used to be that way. Then Mitch Daniels ran on a "get Indiana on daylight saving time" campaign that (I can't imagine how) was not a winning platform. But he became governor a few years later and then implemented that plan and now we all hate it but Republicans still get elected because it's Indiana.

If enough of us refuse to do it maybe it'll finally stop

Come to Arizona. No change here.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

That’s a generous offer, but there’s other factors ruling out Arizona for me!

Let's be honest, daylight savings time is bullshit anyway.

Most people prefer Daylight Saving Time, just to clarify. The big push is to make it permanent, and not "fall back" to standard time.

I don't read his slogan as forgetfulness, I read it as arrogance. Clearly, he thinks himself better than farmers, or whoever it is we turn clocks back for.

Sold American!

This has convinced me to vote.

Good God.

He'll be late to things all week!

[–] Zoomboingding@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Early, actually

[–] LiterallyLMAO@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Why would anyone turn their clocks back on Saturday?
