Block lemmy.ml and hexbear to start. I find their users to be quite toxic.

I switched from portainer to dockge. Dockge makes updating a 1-click process which I love. Portainer is overkill for homelab, but I like how it lists things like images and networks.

I use zfs with Proxmox. I have it as a bind mount to Turnkey Fileserver (a default lxc template).

I access everything through NFS (via turnkey Fileserver). Even other VMs just get the NFS added to the fstab file. File transfers happen extremely fast VM to VM, even though it's "network" storage.

This gives me the benefits of zfs, and NFS handles the "what if's", like what if two VMs access the same file at the same time. I don't know exactly what NFS does in that case, but I haven't run into any problems in the past 5+ years.

Another thing that comes to mind is you should make turnkey Fileserver a privileged container, so that file ownership is done through the default user (1000 if I remember correctly). Unprivileged uses wonky UIDs which requires some magic config which you can find in the docs. It works either way, but I chose the privileged route. Others will have different opinions.

I just adjusted the rudder servo on my RC airplane. It's a 3D plane with lots and lots of throw, and I adjusted the mechanical link to allow more physical movement of the servo itself. Basically like choking up on a baseball bat. It'll give me slightly more resolution in the rudder movement. It took me like an hour including fiddling around with the radio and watching a YouTube video to figure out why something wasn't working.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up using a Raspberry Pi and an old computer monitor to run MagigMirror and MMM-ImmichSlideShow.

I tried ImmichFrame, too, and will revisit it in the future. For now MMM-ImmichSlideShow is working well.

You mean like the one linked here? Or something with a specific URL like "killedbymozilla.com"?

Sorry I can't see this picture, can you upload it as a word document please?

Bummer. Ours are from 6 or 7 years ago and have held up well. There's always a chance they've decreased the quality in recent years.

We've had some percale sheets from The Company Store for a while. I recommend that brand/website.

This will likely create a paradigm shift in joinery. Not just wood joining, either. Get ready to see skyscrapers get taller and bridges get longer.

The developer is still active with their other main project, Uptime Kuma. So that's good.

I am. Was $25 for 1 test? That's a lot.

A new report by the U.S. intelligence community on Tuesday says Russia sought to help former President Donald Trump in last year's presidential election. But the document also emphasized there was no indication Russia or any other country attempted to alter actual votes.

Republicans are reeling from Trump’s undisciplined approach to the opening stages of his race against Harris.

I have multiple things running through a reverse proxy and I've never had trouble accessing them until now. The two hospitals are part of the same company, so their network setup is probably identical.

Curiously, it's not that the sites can't be found, but instead my browser complains that it's not secure.

So I don't think it's a DNS problem, but I wonder what the hospital is doing to the data.

All I could come up with in my research is this article about various methods of intercepting traffic. https://blog.cloudflare.com/performing-preventing-ssl-stripping-a-plain-english-primer/

Since my domain name is one that requires https (.app), the browser doesn't allow me to bypass the warning.

Is this just some sort of super strict security rules at the hospital? I doubt they're doing anything malicious, but it makes me wonder.

Thanks!

Also, if you know of any good networking Lemmy communities, feel free to share them.

I still get updates for things I have installed, but I haven't seen any new integrations or themes added in some time.

After wanting a modern mountain bike for the past 5 years, I finally went and got one. It's a lot of fun.

This is replacing a ~2006 Schwinn Mesa that I never ride anymore, because the trails are too rough for it where I live.

The dropper post is compressed if you're wondering why it looks like the seat is too low 😊

'Sup?

Anything fun or exciting going on in your life?

From the artisan:

Apple of Aetherwood

This is our first 100% original scent in way too long. It starts with an opening of apples and bergamot, with hints of sage, ginger, juniper berries, and geranium, with a base of amber, tonka beans, cedar, vetiver, and frankincense.

While this may sound rather heavy, it's a rich, but still summery scent that is well grounded, but no so heavy and sweet that it would be overwhelming on a hot day.

Coming later this month!

Anyone planning on giving it a try?

The Lather Games theme (from the other website) is:

Information Overload

"Product marketing must list at least 10 scent notes.
Note: remember that notes are scent descriptors used for marketing - not actual ingredient lists.
Caveat: fragrance dupes will count the number of notes listed in the dupe's marketing description - not the original product's description."

Roam Two is a great scent that is not OG Roam, but still great. It wasn't on sale.

Promises - marketed for winter, an interesting scent that's absolutely worth the $5 I paid for it.

Cootie Killer 2.0 hand soaps - I got 6 of them for $2.50 each. I've never smelled Le Grand Chypre before so buying 3 bottles was a small risk, but it was worth it. It smells like a lemon-lime type of soft drink. Fougere Classique is so stanky and awesome, but I might be the only one in the house to use it.

Wildcard Wednesday

"Product can be any singular product you want to use - it doesn't even have to be soap. But here's the catch: any subsequent shave by other LG participants on the same day with the same product will be disqualified; only the earliest submitted shave will earn points for being on-theme.
Note: For the purposes of counting brands for the Soap Brands bonus point, whatever you use here will be counted as whatever brand it is. Palmolive dish soap? Palmolive. Skippy peanut butter? Skippy. Barrister and Mann Cootie Killer? Barrister and Mann. Home-made soap? Assume it's branded however you would usually brand it if you made something. Two soaps superlathered together? Whoops, that's a disqualification."
