On Sunday at MSG, Donald Trump engineered what will be seen by political analysts and later by historians as the coup de grâce that killed forever his prospects of being president and may well have set him on a post-election course on which he finally may be held accountable for his actions.

That is wishful thinking.

Yeah, I want this to be the end of Trump and his cult. But I don't think that it will be.

Like Emperor Palpatine, I don't think he'll actually die or stay dead..

On the contrary, this is actually the strategy to win the swing voters. Some of them just need to be haters and they win bigly.

Nothing is political suicide for Trump. He was right when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and he wouldn't lose any supporters. His followers are a cult and the only way they would stop following him is if he somehow turned brown or black.

Unfortunately, I wish it was

However, right wing networks will skip the worst parts. Many of themwon't even know about the open racism, and they'll reframe the rest as humor, and claim Trump is hilarious.

It's even worse than the Nazis because I bet nobody claimed Hitler was a comedian at the time

It's scary to think how much more openly fucked his statements are going to be in the next few days and as an Aussie, I'm generally scared for you guys

Even if he loses you'll be in danger most likely, and it will take years to recover from Trump

If he wins, it is genuinely possible there won't be a few more years left for anyone (he has no problem taking down everyone with him)

He's losing Colorado too. These rallies aren't for the locals, it's red meat for the base in the media clip era.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

The rally wasn't for NY.

Where will Trump voters hear about the negatives? The 4th estate is not something they have any regard for or they wouldn't be on the fence. Newsmax, OAN, Fox, etc will all ignore the racism

If this is what it takes to sink Trump's ship then I'll fully give up on ever making sense of anything ever again.

Don't get me wrong, that shit show was a national embarrassment, but it wasn't surprising.

Whatever. Vote, folks.

Let me ask you: When have you watched a political speech, and not just sound bytes? For most people, left or right, the answer is never. A ton of Republicans have never seen a single thing Trump has said or done, outside of what they see on the news. The same goes for Harris. We are a politically disengaged people.

67 million Americans watched the Trump vs Harris debate on the night it aired dude. And people like me watched it soon later (it took me a day or so before I personally found the time for it).

Assuming ignorance is messed up. People know what they're voting for.
