“Someone that clean has to be dirty”

— maga, probably

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 10 points 4 hours ago

I have literally been told that, about myself, by conservatives. This was while I was in The Navy, and holding a Top Secret security clearance. They didn't approve of their daughter dating a "hippie." (That was their descriptor not mine.)

TBH violently participating in the injustice system is a financial fraud and treasonous grift on americans.

[–] whostosay@lemmy.world 31 points 10 hours ago

This is a real hard chart to follow... Are both sides the same??

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 85 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Yes, but what about [single political issue here that Trump is as bad or worse on]?

Clearly this means we should vote for [candidate least likely to win but most likely to split the vote of the non-fascist party]!

"As an upper-middle-class white male, I just don't like politics, so I don't vote."

Fuck you, you selfish little pricks.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 16 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

I vote now.

I don't think I was selfish before ... Just ignorant and/or sheltered.

I don't think I disagree with your point, but the messaging is unlikely to convert many non voters.

[–] Speculater@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

I'm just yelling at the choir on Lemmy, I believe. With my actual friends, especially married ones with daughters who say this stuff, I approach it differently. "You always tell me you disdain deadbeat dads, but not voting is another form of failing your daughter. You should be a champion for her rights man, not sitting on the sidelines trying to play nice with 'both sides.'"

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 15 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

tbf, if they're on a politics com and bragging about not voting, chances are that they're pretty far from where you were at if you were just ignorant and/or sheltered.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 10 points 9 hours ago

Well... You're not wrong.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 21 points 12 hours ago

"You see, if fascism wins, then socialism will magically win next. It's a law of nature, like a pendulum. It Is Known."

[–] N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com 51 points 13 hours ago (4 children)

It seems obvious, but half the country thinks Harris controls weather machines and hits Florida with hurricanes for some reason. They show up and vote, because they believe this nonsense deeply.

Please acknowledge the threat and act accordingly. If you are in a swing state, please vote for the rest of us. Your vote matters so very much.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

there was an interview where a woman said something to the effect of "they're controlling the weather and letting the hurricane hit red districts because they can't rig the election otherwise". like yeah hacking motherfucking weather is somehow easier than hacking ballots.

It's not half. It's a minority in this country. It SEEMS like half cause the electoral college is a moronic system.

And yet, here we are. How is this even a choice?

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 11 hours ago

Because conspiratorial thinking has flourished, creating a whole set of fantasy worlds to believe in where anything can happen as long as it proves you were right all along when you were an asshole.

I’m pretty sure she was responsible for convicting felons.

[–] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 12 points 12 hours ago

Incorrect.
She's got a shitload of those.
She's just on the delivering end, not the receiving.

Sounds boring.

Personally, I think the world needs major powers with a bit more crazy to 'em. You really wanna live in a world where you go to bed and wake up to the same thing? Selling nuclear secrets is the spice of life.

Edit: Really? I honestly thought I was laying the sarcasm on a little thick. Whatever. lol

I first read this as a bulleted list and got confused.
