Twitter: 📉💥🔥🔥🔥

Trump: “perfect resumé Elon, now let’s finish off America for our beloved Pootie”

[–] kusuriya@infosec.pub 95 points 2 months ago (3 children)

yes lets put the man that single handedly collapsed the EV market and obliterated Twitter in charge of "streamlining" the government, that is a great idea!

[–] vzq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 59 points 2 months ago (2 children)

He’s totally going to fire every single federal employee and then complain that he can’t renew his passport.

[–] kusuriya@infosec.pub 34 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Then he is going to scream that if public servants are not at their offices 95 hours a week they are not committed to the cause then when he finds out they have a union he will be triggered and forced to go into a quiet room so he can cry about how the big mean workers want him to fail.

Good luck with that. A good portion of us are unionized.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 13 points 2 months ago

They will just shoot you.

Did you not read the part of Project 2025 where they will use the military against US citizens?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

Ask the air traffic controllers who went on strike in the 80s how that helped.

If the president can supersede a union, no worker is safe.

Having Elon anywhere near government anything is a terrible idea and he's an awful human but what's this about the EV market? I thought it was doing fine. Twitter though yeah that has been just...a large wtf per minute value for sure.

[–] skysurfer@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, the EV market is fine, just Tesla sales which have dropped some, lowering numbers for the total EV market. Sales continue to be strong for other EV manufacturers, just one brand slowing down for some strange reason..... Almost like someone has started to alienate their core customer base....

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 13 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Yeah, I'm actively shopping for an EV and Tesla is not on the list. Not just because of Elmo though. I need physical buttons for the AC and radio and I like my cars to be pretty. But Elmo is definitely another reason why I'm not even looking at a Tesla.

[–] kusuriya@infosec.pub 14 points 2 months ago (2 children)

yeah if you look at the stats of the market, its been all over sites like Bloomberg and Forbes, the EV market is imploded because "Americans don't want EVs" but when you break it down by manufacturer the market is overall growing if you excluded tesla, but Tesla is the largest maker in the segment so as they dive the market as a aggregate takes a hit.

That's exactly why they want people like him. The goal is to hit the government in the knees and then say "see? The government can't walk, we need to get rid of it"

[–] MrNesser@lemmy.world 60 points 2 months ago

Ah yes Elon Musk the Joseph Goebbels of a trump administration

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 59 points 2 months ago

Bruh fired people who wrote efficient code...

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 47 points 2 months ago

Donald trump says Elon musk will lead “how to shovel more money into my pockets and the private sector while dismantling more government” task force.

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 41 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (7 children)

If this actually happens, it will be a shit show of epic proportions.

[–] thr0w4w4y2@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 months ago

I think it’s going to be a spectacular year for employment lawyers.

Step 1) Rename the country to something more hip. Possibly USX.

Step 2) Have everyone sign a pledge to work twice as hard.

Step 3) Cut everything that has a budget.

Step 4) Profit?

[–] EmpatheticTeddyBear@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Don't forget to dock their pay if they do something unproductive like sleep.

[–] beliquititious@lemmy.blahaj.zone 38 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Trump made the remarks Thursday during a campaign stop at the New York Economic Club. “At the suggestion of Elon Musk, who has given me his complete and total endorsement…I will create a government efficiency commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government,” Trump said. “Elon has agreed to head the task force,” Trump added while noting that the task force would be responsible for “making recommendations for drastic reforms” to the government.

Not sure I love the sound of "drastic reforms to the government". But if we're stupid enough to give gim the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania again, it's what we deserve.

[–] WhatIsThePointAnyway@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (3 children)

As Gerrymandered as most red states are now and all the voter suppression tactics, I don’t know “stupid enough” would be the cause. The popular vote WILL go to Kamala. It’s whether the gaming of the electoral system can be overcome.

[–] ImADifferentBird@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Honestly, the fact that it's even close enough for that to matter is a damning indictment of our society. How January 6 wasn't the end of Trump's political career and the start of a prison term, I'll never know.

[–] InternetUser2012@lemmy.today 4 points 2 months ago

He should have hanged for it.

Sounds like Project 2025, the thing he claims not to know about.

[–] III@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

That's exactly what it will be. "It is totally not Project 2025 because Musk made it up after heading the task force, right.... right? Wait, he came up with all the exact same actions as Project 2025? That must be coincidence."

[–] InternetUser2012@lemmy.today 4 points 2 months ago

Pay attention to who has the signs out in their yard for Dementia DonOLD. If he gets elected, watch them all flip like they never voted for him when shit all goes bad.

[–] tal@lemmy.today 21 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Elon Musk is presently involved with the operation of multiple companies, not to mention posting on social media. I think that his plate is pretty full.

[–] qantravon@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago

Every one of those companies would probably be doing better without his involvement, so that might be a positive for them...

He will make it as efficient as he did with Twitter!

It all starts with a name change, as always. Maybe "Holy Roman empire" will be dramatic enough for his tastes.

[–] Rakonat@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

His dumbass will probably want to do something like 'FasceX'

[–] Clasm@ttrpg.network 19 points 2 months ago

Chump sucking off a foreign national/wannabe dictator...

Tale as old as time.

[–] IAmTheZeke@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago

This should be in commercials. There's Trump's Stupid ideas and Musk's ideologic stupidity. What a fucking Reese's these two would make

[–] credo@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Great. So the Gov’t will have a quarter of its current value.

[–] PineRune@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Governments should not be measured in "value" of any financial aspect, but rather the quality of living of the citizens they govern. Electing a leader of questionable human rights morals would be a disaster.

[–] credo@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

“Value” is not a term reserved for financial discussions. Don’t ruin the joke.

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

Nothing says "efficiency" like a racist, drug addicted manchild with untreated ADHD who never sleeps.

[–] ALittleSticious@lemm.ee 13 points 1 month ago

Not exaggerating - these people literally want to turn us into slaves. They’re going to take EVERYTHING they can from us.

[–] InternetUser2012@lemmy.today 13 points 2 months ago

Wasn't he supposed to be on Mars by now? I can see why Dementia DonOLD likes him, he tanks businesses just like him, he lies just like him, he makes bullshit promises again just like him, and I could go on....

[–] EmpatheticTeddyBear@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

This just goes to show that nobody ever graduates school. What happens in elementary school in terms of popularity contests reoccurs in junior high and high school, college, businesses, religions, and governments. Humanity is still in its adolescence and until we actually mature as a species, we will constantly be on the brink of death or we will find a way to make it happen.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 month ago

Well, narcissistic idiots who’ve built their empires on lies and exploitation flock together.

[–] overload@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

On the one hand, government jobs are known to be very cushy compared to industry where the harsh realities of late-stage capitalism are in full swing.

On the other hand, Elon is in no position to fix the government inefficiency problem. He would call for some ridiculously stupid and uninformed decisions to be made based upon his business ethos of nuking (potentially important) things and starting from scratch.

[–] SeaJ@lemm.ee 11 points 2 months ago (3 children)

His idea of efficiency is having his employees work 60-80 hours a week and firing people that don't. That does not work with government jobs which are often unionized.

[–] overload@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 months ago

Exactly. Also, that sort of efficiency is a myth because people can't sustain that workload for more than the time required to upskill and get out of that company. You lose good people with knowledge of your operation doing what Elon does.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 2 months ago

I heard someone say they fellate each other. Oh no, that was a video I saw of Lonnie interviewing the orange bad sucking each other off.

[–] ArchRecord@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"At the suggestion of Elon Musk [...] I will create a government efficiency commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government" -Donald Trump

[Trump noted] the task force would be responsible for “making recommendations for drastic reforms” to the government.

The fact that this man doesn't understand that our entire system of checks and balances is what makes recommendations (and implements) drastic reforms, just shows how much of a fascist he is.

Adding Musk to his own special "task force" meant to "recommend" changes, which would, in reality, just be another avenue of control, is a clear attempt to centralize power.
