There's a better chance with her than with any other candidate in her race

Maybe drug policy advocates could relax for about 89 more days?

Circular firing squad isn’t on right now

Kamala Harris has joked about experimenting with marijuana and—unlike another famous Democrat—admitted to a truly shocking act: inhaling.

the fact she was allowed to get this far after admitting she has had her consciousness altered while consuming cannabis when others have had their entire lives ruined for the same thing is a big fuck you to the US people

rules for thee definitely apply here

what about letting others who have experimented get ahead for once

there are people not allowed to vote over this and this should be an automatic campaign promise

Biden could have executive ordered cannabis reform/ legalization and Harris could have been pushing him to do so but no four years later and just like Obama nothing

Clinton and California legalizing medical cannabis happened decades ago and if any of our leaders were serious about listening to the citizens they would have already

Yeah, he absolutely could and should have done what Democratic lawmakers asked him to do and gone with descheduling, but he's a shitty old drug war soldier down to his bones. Harris, for better and worse, is a team player who will always back up her bosses (even when they make shitty decisions), but when she was running her own campaign in 2020 she supported full legalization, so there's at least some reason to be hopeful.

The President can only reschedule a drug through the FDA and DEA, as Biden has already initiated.

Biden’s also pardoned all Federal offenses of marijuana possession. He cannot pardon state convictions.

Decriminalization and record expungement requires an act of Congress. There’s been a stalled bill for two years with 113 Democratic cosponsors.

rescheduling just overregulates the cannabis industry out of business with unneeded legislation while lacking legislation that is needed and allows shoddy products and big megacorp products to be the only ones available

see nicotine vaping for what that looks like

Obama, Trump, and Biden have all supported the mess we are in now with banning everything instead of properly regulating products

but at least the kids are safe

I don’t think you understand drug scheduling. Cannabis is currently Schedule I, same as heroin, LSD, and ecstasy. The proposal is to change it to Schedule III, along side Tylenol with codeine, ketamine, anabolic steroids, and testosterone.

This change would reduce the Federal income tax on the industry to 21%, just like every other industry. It’s extremely beneficial to them, and not just some unneeded legislation.
