I've noticed people with this kind of vitriol about anyone, even genuinely horrible people, are all mostly trying to compensate for their own lack of self esteem in some way. They're just trying to find someone they can think of as below them. Most people use pedos, which, while it often leads to less actual justice for victims, at least makes sense (people often let their vitriol interfere with legitimate investigations, and victims are often guilted into silence by truthfully being told people will likely hurt the abuser they've been groomed into loving). The people who actually are pedos just have to make shit up to have someone to feel better than.

Source: while working forensic psychiatry I avoided looking up people's charges so I wouldn't have to know which people I had to provide care for were the pedos, but my coworkers would tell me eventually and it wound up like a bizarre blinded study of their personalities vs the non pedos.

According to the news, he is neither a pedo nor a homosexual. Apparently he was arrested for soliciting sex services. I don't see that he is worse than the minors who objectify and prostituting themselves in OF for 3.99 without the need for a pimp, just by falsifying their documents. My point of view is that one thing leads to another.

Can't tell if this means it's normal to become a pimp and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.

[–] TheBigBrother@lemmy.world -3 points 1 month ago

He isn't a pimp mate, what I'm saying it's what do you expect people to do if there is market to do it, it's the law of offer and demand basic stuff. Just the pimp instead of being someone physical it's a multi millon corpo.

The article didn't mention anything about him being a pimp, it just say he asked for sexual services(full service)

People who claim they are morally superior to others are usually morally inferior by their own actions and standards. And funny how these people always seem to be a clergy member.

One of the things I do miss from Reddit is r/pastorarrested.

There's a similar one over here too... "Not a drag queen" or something like that

$150 for the whole service.

Probably not the most important detail, but does that seem really cheap to any of you? I mean, I've never been paid to fuck someone but if I did I feel like I'd charge a little more than that.

At least I would if the other person was him lmao.

[–] Floodedwomb@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's because you've never had to.

[–] magic_smoke@links.hackliberty.org 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

That's fair, I didn't intend to be shitty towards sex workers. I was more trying to make fun of the guy for being a cheapskate.

[–] cynthorpe@discuss.online 6 points 1 month ago

I think it depends on the location and quality of the service provider.

Has there ever been done a sociological study on how many and why so many closeted homosexuals are homophobic? I can think of 2 reasons as to why, but I would love to see some numbers.

The 2 reasons I can think of: Non homosexuals don't think as much about homo sex as closeted homosexuals, so they are less likely to constantly be thinking about gays having sex and thus less likely to speak out against it. And closeted homosexuals are probably jealous of gays that are no longer in the closet, a case of "how dare those people openly live happy lives doing what I would like to do, but can't because I'm a bigot with a fragile ego". And this last point is probably why it's so often republicans who are like this: it fits with the republican mindset of being "the party of spite".

I've been thinking a lot about it and I think many of these people are bi, not closeted gay. Hear me out...

  • To a bi person, being gay is literally a choice. You could just ignore your desire for the same sex and probably be perfectly happy with the opposite sex. That explains why these people always frame it as a choice.

  • But, when you deny something about yourself, you make it more present in your life. It's like being told to not think about breathing (sorry), suddenly your breathing is top of mind. This explains why it is such a present thing to them.

  • When you constantly fixate on something, because you're trying not to, and it's something you find sexy.... Well, you've just fetishized it. Which explains why they can't just occasionally look at some gay porn or whatever and be happy, they always eventually get caught doing something extra freaky.

  • Finally, when you deny it all your life and go through your midlife crisis and decide you can't take it anymore, you realize you don't have the skills or knowledge that people who weren't bottling it up have. Which is why so many get caught with staff members or prostitutes.

Another one? You don’t say.

If I had kids, I’d feel much safer leaving them in the care of drag queens over any clergy.
