Octopussies

[–] tate@lemmy.sdf.org 18 points 2 months ago

Also, octopi. They're all "correct" due to the multiple original languages' grammar.

I've always preferred 'octopodes'. It's just such a fun word.

After reading the children of time series, I choose to use octopodes simply due to the fact that they are beautifully narcissistic little bastards in those books.

Man is that a good, if gut wrenching series.

Thank you! I knew they were all correct, and I knew why, but I didn't have an authoritative source to point folks to.

It used to be on the Merriam Webster YouTube channel but I think that editor left and for some reason it was taken down.

Octopuses are really good at doing heroin because they have lots of arms to choose from.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago

It's all just one researcher and his best pal octopus taking all the biology budget to have a blast on the weekends.

[–] MossyFeathers@pawb.social 15 points 2 months ago

I wish octopuses lived longer. I'd have an octopus friend.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

There's no "may" about it. Each octopus arm has its own little processing center to handle its unique movements, it's called the ganglia.

Just like the butt brain in a t rex to manage walking. I see.
