Where would you guys rank Io Flemming and Daryl Lorenz among other Gundam pilots.

I think that Io is amazing because of how he deals with multiple targets the fact he does not need heavy augmentation to display that level of control is a testament to his skill and compatibility with his gundam.

Daryl on the other hand(haha see what i did there) has unrivaled devotion to his fight and will literally sacrifice arm and limb to become stronger.

Daryl somewhere is giving me Admech vibes from Warhammer augmenting himself for better synergy with his machine at the cost of his humanity.

I think that the show does an amazing job at conveying that loss of humanity, Gives me goosebumbs thinking of those scenes.

Overal such an amazing good show, so i am very curious as to you guys thoughts :)

Io Fleming is by far my personal favorite pilot, so my view of him is definitely biased. I think skill wise he'd have to be near the top. He was a championship winning racing driver as a kid meaning he has top class reaction time. I don't think Io is a newtype, I haven't read the Manga though so I'm not 100% on that. Assuming he's not a newtype, he'll never n be able to beat people like Amuro or Char.

I like Darryl as an opposition to Io as they're opposites but kind of the same. Skill wise it's kind of hard to tell and depends on level of prosthetics but, best case he's on par with Io. Also probably not a newtype.

Exactly, I like the sacrificing something for more control shtick of some gundam animes

I particularly like that they're both adults instead of the usual Gundam kids. A lot of Gundam is about child soldiers losing there innocence, youth, etc. Both Io and Daryl have already been through that as shown in flash backs.

At the beginning of the show Io has already accepted that he's fucked but, has chosen to embrace the the madness of war. Where Daryl still has hope and is just trying to survive. As Daryl gets more lost in the war he becomes more like Io, during the finale battle of season 1 Jazz is actually playing while Daryl is in the psycho-zaku even though Io isn't there which is just 😗🤌(chefs kiss)

Thunderbolt has to be one of my fav Mecha for that sole reason, I dont mind teens controlling robots and losing their innocence in war. But it has been over done at this point 😅

Okay, but how are we rating them, not against what?

In other words, is this question "Who is more skillful than who?" or "Who is better-written than who?", or "Who do I just personally like better than who?"
