I was laid off from my job on Friday. There's nothing to celebrate and those who call themselves "Christians Leaders" are directly responsible for my unemployment. I despise the foreigner god with all my heart.

[–] cron 3 points 1 week ago

Oh no, what a terrible way to spend the weekend :(

What was your job? I doubt the "foreigner god" has anything to do with you losing your job

[–] MisterNeon@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I won't go into specifics for my own privacy but I was a government contractor for the United States federal government. DOGE is apparently responsible for my department losing funding.

While you are correct that the "foreigner god" isn't directly responsible, but that's due to the fact that the conservatives (or just the ruling class in general) didn't drape themselves in Christianity they would pick up whatever is most convenient.

The reason I use the term "foreigner god" is because I don't like any religions except for those of the aboriginals of the Americas. I'm a Mesoamerican history fanboy and from my perspective nothing good came from the Old World discovering the New World. Christ is a foreigner and so am I, both alien in nature on soil that would have been better off without us.

Christ is also a foreigner in Europe and Asia, though. I don't know why God's nationality really matters

I made a really delicious cheesecake for the first time. I had no idea it'd be so easy to make.

Cooked lunch for the whole family-in-law. I did carnitas (plus a chicken version), tomatillo salsa, red coleslaw, guacamole, shredded lettuce, a sort of California style taco sauce, black refried beans, and served both soft tortillas and hard taco shells.

We all ate far too much and then the kids started on the chocolate. Just like Zombie Jesus would have wanted.

I worked, so spent the morning getting poked by a hyperactive child alternating between singing and spewing streamer brainrot while I tried to help them with their math homework. I was going to get off early but ended up staying late. (The adults I help tend to not scream “skibidi toilet” at me to avoid having to do algebra, so it’s not bad work at all.)

When I got home I celebrated the other holiday by taking a fat edible, painting and eating a box of Kind bars while listening to Star Wars canon discussion.

Working from Friday till Monday, it’s quite the tradition tho as it is cool to be working the ops room at that time. Not much to do and plenty of cash to make as it counts as 3 Sundays (Friday and Monday are bank holidays, Sunday is well… a Sunday)

Visited New Orleans for the first time. Fun experience. I preferred the jazz of Frenchmen St. vs. the variety of Bourbon St.

We went to Mardi Gras World where they build some of the floats. Cool to see that stuff up close.

Went to my first Easter vigil. It was excellent!

[–] TheRealKuni@midwest.social 2 points 1 week ago

I love Easter Vigil.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I'm Christian and Easter means a lot to me, and we just had such good Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. It really is lovely.

The tradition of JD Vance killing the Pope is always interesting. Strange tradition, but catholics are a strange bunch.

Note that I am certainly not saying notorious couch fucker JD Vance killed the Pope, I am sure it is coincidence that he was the last person to meet with him before he died in flagrante with a sectional

I worked extra hours because work had been insanely busy. My supervisor decided to give me a lecture about some incredibly minor thing I did wrong so that was fun when I already was overworked. She loves picking at everyone like that. Then the following day I ran 11 miles which is the farthest I ever ran. But otherwise I was just at home alone.

[–] TokenEffort@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Went to work.

Couldn't eat because everything was closed.

Can't cook while living with family.
