The important part of this story is that the deaths were due to Avian Influenza, and that it was possibly transmitted to them by their keepers.

For me SimpleX does everything I need. Unified push would be nice, and would address battery usage. I don't need or want message sync, so that's not an issue.

They all have tradeoffs, so it's just a matter of your priorities. For instance I'm OK with the higher battery drain because it's not using Google.

Where are you getting 10 grand from? These are $299 on amazon.

Workflow is capture face, query Pimeyes, query data brokers, LLM then quickly sorts that info.

The data sets are already available through Pimeyes and various data brokers.

Google says they did it 10 years ago and according to Eric Schmidt it's one of the only Google products they decided not to release.

It might depend on the specific Android flavor. I tried that on an old phone, and while I could disable the actual Google search (tapping in the search bar did nothing) I could not remove the search bar. I also could not find a way to have it open my preferred search engine.

Adequate funding and having a chair that isn't in the back pocket of industry.

Her enforcement is getting a fair bit of push back from the courts though, unsurprisingly mostly Republican appointees.

I recently got a Pixel and installed GrapheneOS on it. I would like to add some places to the map. Is there anything I need to know regarding preserving my privacy while contributing?

I have searched and those lead to mostly stack overflow questions for developers, not users.

I block all google and googleapi requests, this seems to slow the app down.
