I get that, and to be completely honest I'm having some trouble articulating where I see the difference, but it just feels wrong to me to absolve Trump supporters of any more than a small fraction of their guilt that way.

I believe, and this is most certainly a bit naive of me but unfortunately not something I can let go of easily, that as an adult you have a responsibility to sincerely evaluate your world view, actions and opinions, and understand how they impact the people around you; this is the thing that is physically near-impossible for citizens of a media-blackout North Korea, but not for internet-connected Americans.

Even if you listened to only right wing media, the subtext of what is going to happen to people under their reign isn't exactly subtle, so it's hard to argue ignorance there. To the contrary, the idea of some group of "others" having pain and violence inflicted upon them is so core to the GOP platform that I really can't find much sympathy for those who support it even if they have been dealt a terrible hand by the system; they do not try to make the world a better place for everyone, they just want to be the ones who get to do the oppressing.

I know it's not always that simple and there's other extenuating factors, but from my moral perspective I just cannot find any justification for it where there isn't still a key responsibility coming from the person themselves.
