It won the 2004 BMI John Lennon Scholarship and has been featured on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson and the April 6th, 2006 episode of The O.C., a popular teen drama series. The music video for Good Day debuted alongside its single releaseGood Day Music Video and was later shown in the first episode of Tally Hall's Internet Show.

==Composition== The song slowly builds upon a piano riff that extends for 13 measures (three measures of 4/4 and followed by a single beat).

The lyrics are mostly nonsensical. The verses have been interpreted as the song itself attempting to introduce itself as a human would. The bridge parodies serious rock ballads into drivel.

== History == Good Day was one of the first songs written for Tally Hall, and originally appeared on the Party Boobytrap EP, then moved to Complete Demos mostly unchanged. Apart from the orchestration, there were no major changes when updated for Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum.

When remixed and partially re-recorded for Atlantic Records in 2007, quite a couple changes were made, like more vocals on the intro. The "I thought you knew I knew" section was completely re-recorded and more backing vocals were recorded for the "Let us sing" section.

===Live performances=== Good Day was performed on w:Fearless Music with the dialogue segments in the breakdown section changed to "Fearless, we are! Fearless, I say!". Rob's chicken sound, however, remained unchanged.Tally Hall, "Good Day", Live on Fearless Music–via YouTube by ded72385ne (October 20, 2006), event occurs after 2:57. Tally Hall would also change the breakdown for Ann Arbor's 107.1, where they would change it to saying "ann arbor's 107one", random mouth noises, and "Top of the Park"Tally Hall, "Good Day", Live on WQKL (July 6, 2006)–via YouTube by Hiddeninthesand.com (May 16, 2024), event occurs after 2:49.—to advertise their then-upcoming performance at Top of the Park.

==Music video== For the song, Joe Hawley directed a music video that features many Tally Hall videos played on various TVs in eclectic locations. The first verse features every member singing in front of their own colored background, before. which were filmed in dozens of locations over 4 months in 2006. The refrain features First-person home videos from children doing childlike activities are played over the chorus. The videos were burned to DVD to film them being played by various devices (mostly TVs) over September.cn
