Just a single one, my own Plex server. I like to have all my stuff in one place and actually own it.

Nice, I have a PLEX server too! I rip my physical media and put it on there. I definitely put more money into that than streamers although I will probably take a break from collecting soon, just to enjoy what I already have.

I hate Plex because it requires my computer to stay on at all times for it to work and I use a laptop

That setup used to be fine because I used it exclusively on my laptop for a bit. I since moved my server to an RPi, and then more recently to a OptiPlex 3050 Micro Form Factor machine.

Long-term I probably need a NAS + dedicated and upgradable machine solution but it'll be years before I start doing that

I'd say it's worth it for casual use! It's mostly working for me for dedicated use as well. You can do a lot with a mini machine.

I suspect you'll be happy with what I bought. It only costs $100 and is small enough to be tucked behind my trash can without incident.
