Peanut butter does NOT go in the fridge. ๐Ÿคฌ

It does if it's organic! Jif has preservatives that'll keep it on a shelf but there are many "natural" brands that don't.

The oil will not go rancid so quickly in the fridge. For example, where I live, my kitchen is about 28c right now. My homemade PB goes in the fridge.

Also, the oil won't separate in the fridge. It's annoying to always have to stir it when it's stored at room temp.

Non-stabilized or homemade peanut butter is a different matter. The name brand stuff though, much better at room temp.

Along with what the other two said. I keep my natural peanut butter in the fridge so it doesn't separate. Has nothing to do with longevity, which seems dubious to me because I've never seen peanut butter go bad. And in the past I've had an open jar of natural peanut butter for well over a year with no issues.

Natural peanut butter lasts longer in the fridge. I keep mine in the fridge during the hotter months

@Alexstarfire@lemmy.world, @EvolvedTurtle@lemmy.world, @Apytele@sh.itjust.works, @OceanSoap@lemmy.ml

Don't worry, having to spread cold peanut butter on fragile graham crackers is enough punishment for your crimes against nature.

Also, I just buy the cheap stuff in bulk. It lasts forever so I don't know much about this "real" peanut butter that expires.

I just wait the 20 seconds for it to become spreadable. Though, you do have to only get a little bit at a time. You can pull out a hunk and expect it heat up that quickly.

I grew up with fridge peanut butter.

My condolences from a fellow fridged peanut butter sufferer.

My issue is it keeps ending up there Idk why but for some reason my natural response is to put it there
