I grew up in the 80s, and his name was constantly in the local news. Most of it about how exciting his new casinos were... or how he stiffed contractors... or how he ran the casinos into the ground. Something many of the adults at the time seem to have forgotten about completely. facepalm
I remember before the 2016 election I saw an interview of one of the contractors he stiffed. They were still pretty pissed about it and they said they'd never work for him again.
Of course, they said they were going to vote for him. Because he was a "businessman".
Morons.
"this guy lied to and grifted me but he did it so well!"
"That's the guy I want lying for me".
I grew up in the 00's and I still had to listen to the news constantly telling us about how he got towns to kick people out of their homes so he could expand the parking lots for his casinos and hotels.
Trump not being in my local news is yet another wonderful aspect of growing up in Hawaiʻi. My exposure to him was in tabloid entertainment news where he still belongs.
