Hi all - I'm from the Federal Liberal Command community team, just wanted to heads-up people about out plans for Powerplay 2.0. I'm going to reproduce my colleague Cmdr August Lagrange's post on our subreddit about it. Please come to our server if you want to know more about PP2.0! Or come to our subreddit and check out our weekly strategy update posts.

Introduction

Over the past few months I've been developing and executing a strategy for dealing with the impending arrival of PowerPlay 2.0. I've given it a lot of thought, because I'm an obsessive nerd that can't just enjoy things. I thought it might be good to post about it because others might have their own ways of contributing, so it's worth spreading awareness of (actually there's another reason for posting that I'll mention later).

Software

Our members will know that I'm a programmer, because I never shut up about it. I've developed various programs for the FLC- the most well-known being a web app (at https://flcsheets.azurewebsites.net/) which provides a front-end for our spreadsheets, and has authentication and authorisation using Discord. This is one part of my strategy: to advertise us using good-looking software. What most won't see is that I've developed a community-management program that tracks Discord activity for things like promotion recommendations. This was designed to deal with a potential influx of recruits, which could tax our community department, who will be busy enough as 2.0 comes out.

Post-2.0, I'll obviously be making what changes are needed to adapt this software to whatever changes are made to our sheets.

Diplomacy

I've always been a fan of diplomacy and I've felt that we've often been too reluctant to do it (which could just be because we're gamers, we want to do, not talk, I'm just a gasbag).

To be up-front, Frontier have not been talking to the organised communities involved in PowerPlay. They've been prioritising bringing in new players, which means that we are not being represented. So my plan is to talk to the other powers about the issues they experience post-2.0 and provide a cohesive, as-inarguable-as-possible accounting of who is experiencing what. That way, we can present that to FDev as something that we're all agreed on. I've already presented this plan to each power, who have all agreed on the structure, so we're ready on that front.

Social Media

This is something everyone can help with. Post 2.0 (and to a certain degree right now) we can be active on Reddit, on the Frontier forum, and anywhere else we have a presence to start talking about PowerPlay. Yes, even you stinky imperials! The more people we get into PowerPlay, the better the experience we all have. And when 2.0 comes out, there are going to be a LOT of people curious about it, who will be considering which power to join. We have to make our case, not just for Winters, but for the FLC in particular. I've been trying to increase my usage of social media (I don't normally use it much outside of Discord), and I want to encourage others to do the same.

That's enough wall-of-texting from me. If anyone wants to help with this and isn't in the Discord, get in there. Work with us to make this the best community experience possible.

Griefings, CMDRs!

What a week this was. Many rebuys have been claimed. In fact, this week¹ has broken the record for most kills in a week, and by a long shot. This week¹, we had a total of 5.254 Kills.

I would like to congratulate every CMDR out there who has made this incredible feat possible.

I would also like to personally congratulate the following CMDRs, who have managed to get more than 500 Kills each this week¹.

  • CMDR A Face for Radio × 511
  • CMDR Radec. × 503
  • CMDR Ars145 × 502

In addition, I would like to congratulate CMDR Cobalt Viper for setting a new global weekly¹ record.

Some interesting figures

The Python Mk 2 was the most used ships for kills at 4.011 Logged kills, followed by the FDL at 710. The most killed ship was the Krait II with a total of 1391 Rebuys.

This week, Elite-Ranked CMDRs were both the ones killing and dying the most. Usually, Mostly Harmless CMDRs take #1 on the dying part. In fact, this Week has only had 95 Harmless kills!

The kills focused on ShinDez - that's where the CG took place. Out of the 5254 Kills 4339 took place in ShinDez, followed by the adjacent staging system V886 Centauri with 470.

I just got back into the game, and first time playing on PC, specifically steam deck. Bought the Odysey.

I play on low settings, and I'm getting occasional freezes and speed ups.

Sometimes the game speeds up to I dunno 150% maybe, fixes itself after some time.

And sometimes I get stutter, but just the picture freezes, on the background the game plays normally. Meaning that after the picture unfreezes, I have moved forward as I have predicted. Both happening on foot and in ship.

Anyone have any idea what setting might fix this?

So I've been on the engineering grind. Basically running around doing what I can, adding things to a list when I hit any snags. Yesterday I got an invitation from Lei Cheung who I need to finish out my shield generator. He wanted me to trade in 50 markets. I had 20something out of 50, so I put it on the list for later. In my reviews of what I needed today, he is totally unlocked. I did not do any significant trading in the meantime, and I most certainly did NOT give him 200 gold. I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth, but what the heck? This is also not the first time this has happened with engineers.

Okay seriously where the heck do you guys find Audio Logs and Patrol Logs for the audio masking mod? I’ve raiding countless settlements of different sizes, economies and security levels and have come up empty and by the looks of it, I can’t trade data that I do have for the ones I need like you usually do for ship engineering. O7 Commanders!

Aside: Does anyone know if using the holiday/fireworks flak launchers (e.g. Winking Cat) works with the raw materials brain tree method?

I updated my build based on suggestions from a reddit thread and the original thread here on Lemmy and the build is now fully combat effective in its role as an AFK ship.

Coriolis

EDSY

The main changes were:

*Reducing the max range of the lasers to prevent unnecessary distributor drain due to turret jitter. Effective range about 4800 m, which is still plenty.

*Addition of two beam lasers for more DPS.

*Replacing many of the guardian shield boosters with engineered hull reinforcement and some more module reinforcements.

*0A shield booster engineering and biweave shield readjusted for additional thermal resistance.

*Large increases in resistances across the board for shields and hull. More robust hull strength. The additional damage resist definitely helps with survivability and seems to have the biggest effect compared to my previous build.

*SLF pilot skill increased to Deadly.

*Engineered G5 Dirty Drag drives to help with turn rates when I do want to play actively.

*Two points defenses instead of 3, additional ammo engineering, on bottom to protect cargo hold. Appears to be sufficient.

*When I want to go somewhere, I swap one of the G5 module reinforcements with a G6 fuel scoop in the Size 6 slot.

With these changes I am able to, with proper massacre mission stacking, take on multiple Threat 8 missions at once. The best I've been able to get so far was 400 million credits across 20 missions (about 175 kills total) per run. Due to the very fast spawning from the high threat enemies it only took a few (two hours) to complete, with an additional 40 minutes for quest pickup and turn-in.

When playing actively, I usually just turn to focus all weapons on enemies and sic my fighter on enemies after scanning them. For shielded Anacondas I try to stay behind them either above or below to prevent all of their weapons from aiming at me. Otherwise I can just stay still and turn to enemies as needed.

Other settings I ran with:

*3 pips shield, 0 pips engine, 3 pips weapons. If playing actively I can get away with 2/0/4.

*Report crimes against me set to ON to get some additional help from system authorities. Definitely helps with shielded anacondas and multiple simultaneous waves.

*3-5 km away from center of Low Haz area, either above or below, about 300-600 m away on the Z axis.

*SLF set to Defend.

*No additional AFK rotation (weight on the rotation key) appears to be needed as SLF does a good job now.

*Cheap cargo (biowaste is fine, lol when pirates want my biowaste). I try to jettison and replace with Occupied Escape Pods to be a juicer target and also add additional income on quest turn-in.

I'm very happy with how this build performance now, but it does require a bit of setup effort and is engineered to the n-th degree.

"Sunny night at Zetford Terminal". A pair of planets watch the sun-not-set near one of our BGS target systems. (Our last one from Teddy Rope who's moved on to pastures new - good luck in the black Cmdr!)

Cycle summary and priorities:

Not a quiet week, although our Dongkum expansion was not the centre attraction this time. Hudson has fallen into turmoil this week following what looks to be a late snipe, with one system on the block. Activity has been at a heightened pitch in the background via faction shift and conflict to alter the powerplay supporting landscape. Power shifts continued in Aisling's Reieni sphere. In our Karnarki sphere, the main event of last week was the advertised war in Tchernobog. Amongst players we saw, this was a struggle mostly against ALD's forces, and sadly was lost to the Empire. It was a very dangerous system for the duration, with continual PvP battles, indeed descending into chaos at one point with a joker played when a well-known PvP squadron felt the need to remind everyone including themselves what "murderhobo" means 💥. It didn't help but pews are good aren't they, and it's unlikely it affected the outcome ultimately.

Appreciation for some hard rain in Tchernobog - we and our Hudson allies supply the planetary weather so FDev don't have to :D

Once again this is the kind of activity level that makes powerplay exciting and it's no bad thing when such convergences punctuate the more usual simmer and build-up play, even if we'd rather not have the outcome. Props to our opponents, many of whom met us on the field.

b2 Carinae continues to be a hotbed of intense Imperial activity with a renewed push to usurp Ice Storm Squadron; please help ISS there if you can. Reported encounters there are down a lot but there's still the odd Imperial PvPer appearing at the star looking for easy pickings so do still watch your six over there. Other BGS movements continue with plenty of silver linings but can only be revealed to those in our discord!

With the recent re-energisation of the Thargoid advance, Ram Tah offers an exciting counterpoint with independent pilots directed to supply Meene with relics and grelics. We assume a Panther Clipper will be the only means capable of delivering the crazy Guardian payload he's working up for the Titans. Super cool blue paintjobs available to top contributors.

Is he even an imp? Famed for flying meme builds to gank our T9 haulers (yes I was ganked by an AspX shut up) and staring at his coffee not socialising in the Imperial squadron mess halls. Flies Grom lately just to be ironic. He flew Federation for a couple of weeks just before that but maybe got frustrated (iirc he didn't find a single T9:/). Though some say he delved too greedily and too deep into the darkness of FUC discord server message history.... The name - a reference to the fear he strikes or the quality of his flying? I am currently in a fairly extensive exploration expedition and get to sell my bio data whenever I get within 1000 ly of a carier. (1000 is the magic number for me)

This time I had for 4 billions worth (incl bonus). I haven't sold any cartographic data yet as I'm saving it for someone who mayne can use it for bgs when I get back

The last I heard, there was an unknown object of Thargoid origin heading towards the bubble at high speed. I was among the people watching and tracking it, but never heard what happened, or if anything ever did.

Almost everything looked green on there. The ice, the ship, the thin methane atmosphere and even the fonticulua. Absolutely breathtaking.

I will never understand gankers/griefers. Rp I’m all for, but ramming another cmdr to death, inside a station no less? What’s the point? What’s your endgame here? Do you want to play alone? Because that’s what happens. It’s weird and sad. Follow that behavior to its logical conclusion and you’ll just be blocked by everyone you interact with or banned from the game. Tf is the point of that?

I’m not very social but I enjoy playing in open because I like the feeling of the active world. It sucks when there’s someone who’s just there to be an asshole.
