At the local level, we proved that socialism isn’t just popular in Los Angeles, it’s an unstoppable force. As it became clear that Harris had lost, the polls closed on the West Coast and we saw the first numbers in Los Angeles. Never was the divide so apparent than when we announced the landslide victories of DSA-LA endorsed Karla Griego for LAUSD School Board (BD5) and Ysabel Jurado for LA City Council (CD14), while on the NBC screen behind us Harris supporters abandoned the campaign HQ.

This puts us in a unique position electorally in Los Angeles, with an exciting path opening up for DSA-LA. We’ve now won more than a quarter of the seats in both LA City Council and LAUSD School Board—4 out of 15 and 2 out of 7 respectively—the strongest hold of any DSA chapter in the country percentage wise. At the same time, our candidates remain a growing yet minority block that cannot pass transformative policy without appealing to the broader progressive and centrist members of their legislative body. But still, our candidates finish first in their primaries and then go on to double digit victories in the general, if they don’t win outright in the first round like Eunisses Hernandez or Nithya Raman. Or they get the most votes in their city’s history like Konstantine Anthony in Burbank.

Yep, I got arrested trying to block a coal ship in the world's largest coal port and I'm proud as fuck, give all your love to the protest organisers. I've talked about it a ton over in this thread (and a few others in similar communities). I was joined by a handful of other people, including a student doctor who is in this photo but hard to see, she's on my right in the shade. She's so damn brave and a huge inspiration.

This took place at the People's Blockade, an annual "protestival" organised by a group called Rising Tide.

I'm the (misgendered 😡) 27 year old in this article.

170 people then set a new record for the largest civil disobedience action in Australian history the following day, they're all incredibly brave people who have had enough.

We fought the government in court and won the right to protest against the fossil fuel corporations who are burning our children's futures. We also fight to secure the future jobs of the workers in these industries, demanding a 78% tax on current fossil fuel projects to help them in the transition to a renewable future.

It's been a long few days, I've just arrived home about half an hour ago. Goodnight.

Israel has approved a resolution to cut ties with the Israeli news outlet Haaretz and ban government funding bodies from communicating or placing advertisements with the newspaper.

The government said its decision was due to “many articles that have hurt the legitimacy of the state of Israel and its right to self-defence, and particularly the remarks made in London by Haaretz publisher Amos Schocken that support terrorism and call for imposing sanctions on the government,” Haaretz reported on Sunday.

“Like his friends [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan, and [Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor] Orban, Netanyahu is trying to silence a critical, independent newspaper. Haaretz will not balk and will not morph into a government pamphlet that publishes messages approved by the government and its leader,” the outlet added.

“It dismisses the costs of both sides for defending the settlements while fighting the Palestinian freedom fighters that Israel calls ‘terrorists’,” he added.

Following an Israeli public outcry over the comments, Schocken said that his mention of Palestinian freedom fighters did not mean Hamas.

The Israeli military has apparently taken over North Gaza’s only water desalination station and turned it into a makeshift army base, according to videos posted online by Israeli soldiers.

Footage first posted by an Israeli soldier on Monday reveals the presence of Israeli forces inside the facility.

The footage also shows military installations and equipment both inside and around the desalination station, including communication devices, rooms, trucks and other items.

Summary

Marine robotics firm Deep Sea Vision confirmed that a sonar image initially believed to show Amelia Earhart’s missing plane was actually a natural rock formation.

The image, taken near Howland Island, sparked excitement earlier this year as it aligned with her 1937 flight path.

However, after 11 months of analysis, the company concluded it was not the wreckage of her Lockheed 10-E Electra.

Deep Sea Vision plans to continue its search for Earhart’s last known location despite the setback.

Summary

U.S. intelligence warns defense companies, especially those supporting Ukraine, to enhance security against escalating Russian sabotage threats.

Recent acts of sabotage in Europe, attributed to Russia, include arson attacks and attempts to smuggle incendiary devices onto cargo planes.

These efforts, part of a broader hybrid strategy involving disinformation, aim to disrupt Ukraine’s allies and critical infrastructure.

The warning, issued by the National Counterintelligence and Security Center alongside the FBI and Defense Department, underscores growing risks to U.S. companies both abroad and domestically. Russia denies involvement.
