Red states are brain-draining people fast enough, blue cities are where all the hospitals and infrastructure are, and that's all being defunded rapidly. Can you imagine what it would be like if droves of medical and other professionals just left red states - shuttering hospitals and colleges and the like.

When conservatives say "I wish we could just split the country and then we'd prove how our policies are better" I always picture the scenario of them wandering around, trying to get cancer treatment or an MRI.

The majority of people I know with dental issues couldn't afford to have minor things fixed so they turned into major things.

Dental insurance is a joke and lots of people don't even get that joke.

This is how the Democrats communicate their values and intentions. And 30, 40, 100 years ago it would have worked, because the public looked for alternative solutions to problems. Today, the public wants a bully to assertively stand on camera and yell at them. The Democrats don't do that, and it's to their detriment.

But the time for all of this has passed, they're rearranging deck chairs.

So happy when people can make the transition into decent paying, clean work like this. Yeah we all bitch about it, but if you've ever done real hard and dirty work, you know it's actually pretty great to sit and deal with IT problems all day long. Good luck to you.

I'm in the Deep South, I bet by end of week I see a place charging "Fuck China" surcharges.

I did turn off my Amazon renewal for next month, I don't really care if it makes a difference in their bottom line, but my money doesn't support this shit if I can help it.

It's kind of unreal that they took something that worked perfectly well for 25 years and then fucked it up entirely overnight, for no good reason.

Stick in bike spokes meme.

Interesting. Ok, I will give it another go at some point. I had an Oculus Rift and there was a ton of promise but the tech was just not ready.

Seems dangerous, it's a breach of the ToS I assume so they're opening up to possible liability if Reddit got pissy. I'm actually surprised this kind of research gets IRB and other approval given you're violating ToS unless given a variance from it (I used to conduct research on social networks and had to get preapproved accounts for the purpose, and the data I was given was carefully limited.)

Usually wise to avoid trusting the people you see in mirrors as well, never know what they're doing when you're not around.

Yep I've played with virtual monitors in VR space and I don't even like watching movies on them, the loss in resolution and the way the dynamic aspect of it (using a moving screen to simulate a static screen) makes it a shitty solution. Eventually it'll be good enough to watch TV in but I can't imagine doing serious work in it.
