So add vehicle inspections to the list. And taxes can be prorated if the tire failed before being fully consumed.

L. O. L.

So rather than just take the mileage of the vehicle at registration/renewal, we'll add more red tape to the process and make everything cost more so we can use a silly proxy to get the amount of use of the vehicle.

That's the American way I'm used to.

The dead also can't have their consent violated and feel that particular psychological trauma which I think is the real root of what makes rape such a particularly awful thing.

By that logic, you can't steal from the dead because they no longer own the property. Because the act of stealing is taking something that belongs to someone else.

because the suffering of a living victim is an essential part of what makes rape rape.

You are still violating the bodily autonomy of someone who did not consent to being in that situation. That's basically the definition of rape. The suffering of the victim, while horrendous, is not what the crime is.

Tires are also a consumable that, if used to the point of failure, become a hazard to the driver and anything around them. Adding the tax to the tires would encourage those with lesser means to use them to the point of being dangerous.

Care to explain the joke for the musically and linguistically disinclined?

Interesting, I'll see if I can find anything like that the next time I go to a dispo

Then I'm watching some news coverage and then some right-wing guy comes on and gives it some "spin" and I'm like, "wait ... do they have a point?". Urgh.

That's what right wing media does. They spin facts in such a way that there's a compelling narrative, but only if you're willfully ignorant, know nothing about it and don't bother to look into it. They specifically rely on ignorance of their viewers, and to a lesser extent, the lack of short term memory or being able to follow shifting narratives in reporting. It's why you can see militant "anti-government" people like Jones who now actively cheers on the exact shit he decried a decade ago.

Sucks because I'd like to be able to use edibles in places you can't smoke (concerts, etc) but alas

Agreed. That being said, while I have not and will not bring smokables to concerts, I've been passed a j or blunt so many times at shows lol

Why would anyone believe the turds that fall out of Dim Tool's mouth?

Why not just implement a liability waiver and have the person accept any cleanup fees for areas left in a mess?
