Possible, but the Senate we have doesn't support that.

FYI it's a gift link, so you should have access without needing to do that.

Use a throwaway email address. You'll get stuff via USPS, but not too much of it.

Do not give them your phone number.

You can see the speech itself here

He’s called fighting climate change a matter of “life and death,” proposed a ban on fracking and refused to grant licenses to explore new natural gas wells, even as Colombia faces a shortfall of the fuel.

Until now, Petro had largely stuck to using regulatory agencies to hinder fossil fuels. Blocking the Occidental deal marks the first time he’s directly intervened in a major decision at Ecopetrol. Or at least the first time it’s become public.

It's going to be a few years before it gets to the Supreme Court. Very possible to change the court before then.

Much of rural life is already subsidized. No problems with that.

We all know that what has been done hasn't been enough. But knowing which policies do something and which don't is a big deal; it tells us to scale up policies which work to cover more of the world, and not to double down on ineffective approaches

There's a bit of a history of the Republicans in Montana funding the Green Party to serve as spoilers.

The way first-past-the-post elections work makes this pretty much inevitable.

Let's look at 3 scenarios:

Scenario 1:

  • Tester (D) 1001 votes
  • Sheehey (R) 1000 votes
  • Green Party: 0 votes

Tester wins

Scenario 2:

  • Tester (D) 1000 votes
  • Sheehey (R) 1000 votes
  • Green Party: 1 vote

Tie between Tester and Sheehey, forcing a special election (Montana rules; other states use games of chance)

Scenario 3:

  • Tester (D) 999 votes
  • Sheehey (R) 1000 votes
  • Green Party: 2 votes

Sheehey wins

This means that voting for a minor third party instead of the Democrat actively harms the ability to elect somebody who is better-aligned with your views.

Vote your heart in the primary. Vote strategically in the general.

Just in case you had any doubt about whether he intends to stage another coup attempt if he loses.

Pretty much what it takes. A presidential campaign is a billion-dollar expense. Without broad support, they're left depending on billionaires, and that's whose policies they implement.

Tell your congresscritter; they're the one who will have the power to make the change.

The big difference is who is in Congress. A lot more Democrats there are on board with something like this.

I don't doubt you that it's not happening in your circle. It's pretty definitely happening though:

Sales of America’s No. 1 selling electric truck, the F-150 Lightning, totaled 15,645 through June of this year. F-150 Lightning sales for Q2 totaled 7,902, up 77 percent from a year ago.

Rivian isn't selling as many:

Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ: RIVN) today announced production and delivery totals for the quarter ending June 30, 2024. The company produced 9,612 vehicles at its manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois and delivered 13,790 vehicles during the same period.

Now...Ford doesn't appear to be trying to scale up and Rivian is, so I expect this to change in the future. But it's definitely a lot that are selling.
