How to spot an American... 🙄

Last time I used eBay it was also country specific.

And for that usecase a specialised marketplace for retro-gaming that you can actually browse would be much better as well.

The HTC decision makers are apparently even more clueless than Meta.

Running an aircon or refrigerator would be the obvious choices, but you could for example also connect an small electrical oven and dry some fruits or mushrooms in it... or get all fancy and bake your own bread.

I think there was a Nextcloud plugin that allowed doing that. If you run that anyways, worth a try.

Some kind of solar powered boats with kite-sails could be interesting, but I doubt that would really scale to cargo transport. Although kite-sails for cargo ships do exist and apparently reduce fuel consumption by a low double digit percentage.

I also once read that submarines could have amazing fuel efficiency (similar to whales), so maybe some sort of fully automated slowly moving electric submarine could be feasible? In general the water drag grows in exponent with the speed, so slower moving cargo ships should be in theory a lot more fuel efficient and an automated submarine wouldn't have to worry about adverse weather etc.

The goal is to promote a local market. Not much point to have a marketplace with used items from the other side of the world.

Although manual curation of the connected instances would also work for a specialist marketplace where you can only find specific types of items.

I think both use-cases make more sense than general marketplace with mostly irrelevant entries.

It's their community blog. This specific person has been writing there about Linux gaming for a long time now.

Overlay AFAIK not, but there is this GUI app: https://gitlab.com/gabmus/envision

You can grow larger plants in hydroponics, but the current setups really only make sense where land costs are at a high premium, thus you end up stacking plants on top of each other with artificial lighting, and as a result there is not much space for larger plants.

Yeah, there are definitely a lot of low hanging fruits in that regard.

Lemmy for example would be probably a lot more server resource efficient if it would batch-send federated votes, as currently the constant stream of individual vote activities are really hammering the database.
