sorry I was really busy this week, didnt have time to look into this.

The issue seems to happen in qt6 xcb so you could try switching sddm to run on wayland, which might bypass the issue (from Arch wiki):

Create the file /etc/sddm.conf.d/10-wayland.conf with the following content:

[General]
DisplayServer=wayland
GreeterEnvironment=QT_WAYLAND_SHELL_INTEGRATION=layer-shell

[Wayland]
CompositorCommand=kwin_wayland --drm --no-lockscreen --no-global-shortcuts --locale1

This requires layer-shell-qt to be installed, preferably versions 6.x which kde neon probably has in their repos (its on 5.x on base ubuntu).

Other than that, on sddm's issue repo I found two similar issues: #1761 and #1468, though both have no resolutions yet.

Nice to see Incus doing well after canonical's forced overtaking of the original project lxd.

Welcome to c/cfd

Feel free to post anything related to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).

Questions, discussions, reviews, interesting articles, job postings, and project showcases are all welcome!

This is currently a work in progress, content suggestions are highly appreciated. The goal is for this post to become a helpful summary of all important things related to CFD.

what is this about?

It randomly changed to My First F-Droid Repo Demo. Only thing I could find was this reddit post from 3 days ago:

Updates taking that much space is a bit surprising. I used to run linux mint on a 20 gb partition and usually had 3-4 gb space free. Does Linux mint comes pre-installed with flatpaks (you check with flatpak list)?

But 20 gb is on the very low side, you will run into issues on updates. You probably need to extend the linux partition by at least 10 gb.

For the printer issue, check the status of the cups service (sudo systemctl status cups).

I think you can disable the new header bar in VSCode (iirc from View).

The old one was too confusing for new users. It wasn't clearly step by step like all the other installers on linux.

Thanks! Definitely reading this one now though its kinda long. I had heard about it but didn't see anyone put it this way before.

Not sure tbh but probably anything around the time you experience the issue. Check the time when the issue occurs, then look at the logs from around that time for any errors warnings. That should at least give you a clue.

Exactly this with me too. If they know me I have to hold myself to different standards and more small talk and stuff like that.

I have been trying to force myself to go to the same places but I usually fail. The only thing that works for me is going with someone else.

How are you supposed to deal with this without just losing all your values and becoming like them?

Are there any books or anything that someone can read on this?

Nutomic:

This is implemented in the main branch now. If you want to develop a plugin for Lemmy, have a look at the RFC and the examples. If you have questions about plugin development, feel free to post in the Matrix dev chat, !lemmy@lemmy.ml or open an issue.

Examples in multiple languages: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-plugins#lemmy-plugins (only a few examples currently, more languages are possible including Python)

Anyone planning to start working on a plugin?

has anyone tried it on wayland? are there any other screensavers for wayland? AFAIK this is the only screensaver that works on wayland.

v2.8, v2.9, v2.10 were all released recently after a few months hiatus (v2.7 was in Oct).

Most of the changes were bug fixes but v2.8 had new features too:

  • New visibility mode: Intelligent Auto Hide (aka Intellihide / Dodge Windows): in this mode, the dock only hides itself when there's a window covering it or there's a maximized window.
  • Supports LXQt (KWin) on Wayland: including special menu entries (e.g. Log Out), specific default launchers, setting wallpapers and separate config.
  • Task icon: Allow cycling backwards through window applications with CTRL: so left-clicking cycles forwards and CTRL + left-clicking cycles backwards.

Crystal Dock is a cool dock (desktop panel) for Linux desktop, with the focus on attractive user interface, being simple and easy to customize, and cross-desktop support.

The current version (version 2) supports KDE Plasma 6 and LXQt (KWin) on Wayland. Other desktop environments will be considered when they run on Wayland and provide sufficient APIs. The previous version (version 1) supports KDE Plasma 5, GNOME, LXQt, Cinnamon and MATE on X11.
