There are better forms of traffic calming than speed bumps. Building an overly wide and smooth high speed road and then putting a speed bump in the middle of it is the kind of stupidity that typifies american road infrastructure. Rough, narrow, and curved mixed use streets causes traffic to drive slowly. Traffic cameras and school zones only exist because american roads are intentionally designed to be dangerous.

Money raised from road fines and tolls should go to public transport, like busses, and light rail.

Traffic cameras are revenue generators for police departments. Better road infrastructure is the way to make the roads safer. Traffic calming makes cars drive safer without requiring enforcement.

None of these bans are being made in response to trans women being too good at sports. If trans women regularly won top level competitions, this would be an issue, but that doesn't happen.

Trans women are worse at athletics than cis women. The way HRT works results in significantly higher levels of estrogen than cis women. That makes trans women worse at athletics, if they have been on HRT long enough.

If the goal was fair sports for all women, they would be following the research, making or changing rules for trans women specifically. Requiring trans athletes be on HRT long enough, and to document having the right levels to ensure they don't have an advantage according to the research that exists.

No, they choose to ban trans athletes instead. The intent behind these laws is not fairness, the intent is to make trans people not exist.

Its an indication of what the people who trade in extended hours think, which is not a particularly representative sample.

This is Taiwan. Taiwan previously required 2 gender dysphoria diagnoses, and proof of surgery for ID gender marker changes.

A court recently allowed an ID gender change without surgery, in some pretty exceptional circumstances., showing the surgery requirement can be waved in exceptional cases. The case in the article was a trans woman who's case wasn't exceptional enough to skip the surgery requirement.

This doesn't show a rollback of trans rights, this is just how court precedence are established. You can't know where the precedence ends until someone's case slams headlong into the wall next to it.

U.S. District Court Judge Melissa DuBose on Friday ruled against Libby’s request for a preliminary injunction to prevent the sanction.

The court ruled that Libby didn't have a strong enough case to block the censure in advance of the full lawsuit. The judge ruled that the case was not likely to succeed on merits, but further rulings will happen in this case as it continues.

I think its important to point out that transitioning is a major change. Even the most supportive possible partner will have reservations, and will take time to come around to the idea of you transitioning. That is to be expected. Having a partner transition is scary. Don't take comments made in that light too seriously.

My wife is probably the most supportive person I could have possibly married, and despite knowing I was trans before deciding to marry me, she was opposed to it. She knew I was going to transition for at least 2 years before I did it, and she was still somewhat opposed to it until I actually started the HRT.

The most noticeable change from HRT in the first few months was mood changes, not physical changes. I have had so many friends and colleagues notice and comment on how I became significantly happier. If your wife is opposed to something that makes you visibly happier, your marriage was unlikely to last.

A choice between happiness and marriage is a false choice. As an unhappy marriage is rarely a lasting marriage.

Take it slow. She probably will come around to the idea eventually. Be patient, be understanding.

Fire is an important part of american forest ecosystems. The uncontrollable fires we see today are a result of agressive fire suppression over the last century. The underbrush that would have been cleared away by small fires in a precolonial america, has been left to accumulate. Introduced tree species that are not at all fire resistant thrive here. The result is, most forests here have been turned into powder kegs, ready to blow when a fire inevitably happens. Also climate change.

Solving this problem will require new deal level investment in forest management. And a second new deal for climate change. You need more than a guillotine to make that happen.
