So the benefits to pay for this rent comes from local councils, and it goes to pay local councils? Makes perfect sense.

Not even "just in case". Where I live, there is one bus into town at 9:30, and a second at 3:30. Completely unhelpful for anyone who wanted to get to work.

We need significant better public transport for it to even be am option, at the moment its just a token.

That was after the £37m dividend they paid their owners.

Not available in your country.

A bit harsh for feddit.uk content to not be viewable in the UK :(

That's basically how I read it initially.

Apparently that is how she refers to herself and its perfectly normal for folks to not refer to themselves as "gay" but as being part of the community.

Its almost like handing out control of something as critical and a natural monopoly as water supplies to the Saudi's is a bad idea.

FYI they also paid their Saudi overlords £37 million earlier this year.

The Aussie owners before them milked it and generated most of this debt.

The water company, which has said it could run out of cash by next June, had asked the regulator for permission to charge customers £156.6m through bills to plug the pension shortfall.

I think the phrase is "fuck you".

with certain corners of the internet going after Headland, who is a member of the LGBTQ+ community

That's some odd phrasing. Are they not allowed to say that someone is gay?

It feels like they are trying to dog whistle something, but I'm not sure what. Or was all the criticism completely unrelated and they are trying to stretch a point?

[Update]

I have been educated that this is not an uncommon phrasing to use by someone who is gay.

Presumably following the motto of a rising tide raises all the ships and they have expressed a preference for their success to be viewed as a success for everyone?

TIL.

This question makes no sense.

Most Windows users are not technical enough to do component upgrades. And yes they get money from new system sales.

Nope Idiocracy is far more optimistic.

Remember, they found our someone was more intelligent so they gave him the job of fixing the country.

Are there starter homes just sitting about, unpurchased because people can't afford them?

I'm not in the US, so I'm a little detached from this but does the US have an issue with house sales at the moment?

I've only heard of buying issues. Why wouldn't this just increase prices by $25k? That's precisely what we witnessed in the UK whenever the government offer assistance, there are always buyers so the market swallows up the extra capital and prices increase to offset.

It's exciting news for RISC-V fans: Raspberry Pi is adding support for the open ISA with the launch of the Pico 2 and the company's new RP2350 microcontroller.

Householders are angered by the discovery they cannot remortgage or sell their homes after installing spray-foam insulation to cut energy use.

Pretty depressing reading.

[Edit] I had the archive link as a comment but this has gained enough traction that it's not obvious. Here it is again so you don't have to give FT any clicks https://archive.is/ypkln

There are lots of things that can be put down to personal taste, however I can't let this abomination go.

I am referring to Branston Smooth.

I love Branston Pickle, but I can't get on board with Branston paste. Is there a better example where a manufacturer made an updated version of a food that was objectively worse?

In addition to BBC and ITV showing the matches, Netflix had been documenting the time between the 2023 and 2024 Six Nations.

West Berkshire has the highest number of school exclusions in the county.

And it has more than twice the number of school suspensions in state-run and special schools under its control.

Government data says 1,263 suspensions were issued in West Berkshire in the 22.23 autumn term to 532 pupils.

That compares to 569 in Reading, 401 in Slough, 406 in Windsor and Maidenhead and 358 in Wokingham.

A few games have been shown on the World Rugby website, but not via YouTube directly on their website, it's unclear why but does anyone know how to rewatch these matches if you missed them?
