I'd also like to point out that with an app, you don't just hire a programmer, they make an app and done. You have to maintain it. (Although many companies with "smart" products with apps skip this part, so I'm sure it's fine /s)

Serious question: Do people share their lemmy account with others irl?
Not even my closest friends and family know my username let alone random strangers. And I intend to keep it that way.
Short and snappy: Because men are still the default and that doesn't make any sense when about half of humanity are women.
Some examples: Medicine, crash tests, design (size of things), movies (see the Bechdel Test for a bar that was put on the ground that is still not cleared surprisingly often) and other media. This list goes on and on.
I'm also not sure if it's what OP is looking for, but I also think Fall of Civilisations is not quite as dry as other history podcasts.
He does a great job of painting a picture through the narration, making you imagine what it would be like to have lived in those times. And he sometimes does add his personal takes (always clearly pointed out as personal takes).
It might still be too narrative for OP, but it might also be colourful enough.
Also kein plant based chicken mehr oder so. Aber deine Idee ist besser.
In addition to what others here have already said: Sometimes what they gain is a feeling of power and/or control.
This can play a role in the vicious cycle of abuse. People feel powerless because they are abused. To regain power they abuse others. Then they are the ones in control of the situation.
Everyone is saying undersalt things, but I'm assuming, that you don't even have a clue whether a teaspoon of salt would be undersalting or oversalting. You should get someone to show you what a "normal" amount of salt is per person. It won't be perfect but at least edible.
In case you are interested in this topic: This likely has nothing to do with fine or very straight hair but with the porosity of your hair.
I have very low-porosity wavy hair and the only shape it keeps is the one it has. Actual curls? No. Straight? Also a no. I also have a hard time dyeing my hair at home and many products just sit on the hair without getting absorbed.
Low-porosity hair means the "scales" of the hair lie very flat. To do anything to your hair you have to lift them with either a lot of heat or chemicals. For example my hair loves hot steam. It's the only way I get it to absorb any moisture or conditioner.
Does your hair take very long to get wet? Does it float when you put it in water for a while instead of sinking? Then you probably have low-porosity hair. (There are more tests but I'd have to google them)
