Nightcore'd stuff, when I need to get amped up to do something not interesting, stuff like apocalyptica for relaxing/wind down

[–] TerraRoot@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

I half remember reading a post apocalyptic book, space aliens ruined physics or something, steam pressure wouldn't even work! anyway shortly after the fall they were wearing full plate armour and battle charging the enemy on bicycles...

I'm above 40 but below 45, i am shit at paperwork and composing an email takes half a day. each time I solve an issue the solution and more importantly the process I go through to get to the solution is shared, I don't want to have to fix things more than twice and it is my job to share knowlege/train the new guys.

They don't know that I don't know shit and every problem is fixed with detailed troubleshooting not 'knowing' what the issue is.

In my office the only issue is admin stuff, time tracking, emails, case updates that sort of time sucking boring nonsense, found a way around, train the new guys, tell em' contact me if you have problems, so now I fix their stuff and they do the emails/notes :D

I have to convince mangement I'm doing work every yearly review, so far so good!

Tech support, get that dopamine solving new problems everyday

All the previous jobs were in the vein of either huge risk (pizza delivery) or puzzle solving. Got quite disheartend doing anything less demanding.

I don't think getting CVE's is a good metric for security strength, but good points aside.

I think debian and kde is a great first distro, but yeah getting ROCm working on it is the suck,

Was that a terry pratchett reference?

So I knew the gearing was too long for the larger tyres, new gears on the way, I expected the motor would die from the abuse/heat (the 3d printed motor mount was certainly feeling the heat!) however it hadn't died after 3 or 4 battery pack, so I went for a high speed run, on the plus side it went straight, also on the plus side we get to replace the 20+ year old esc! downside I have to lend little TerraRoot one of my RC's until his parts get here doughtnut video

Cracked the 3mm ball joint out of it, testing it by sending it down playground slides, thought the link would break first but I seem to have over engineered that.

Threw some electronics in it, battery just fits between servo and diff, and it's a roller! Handles nicely on the kitchen floor, more strenuous testing soon.

But don't mix steroids and ritalin, that was an interesting 22 hours.

Stopped for a stretch and a photo, odd she didn't idle, but what harm, 30 years old, nope she had broke down right here, got her going again, no go again next vilage, thinking it's the enforced winter slumber, rode home hard, 240kmh, 13krpm in 5th (not enought space for 6th) and pulled in home and idled like nothing ever went wrong.

Had some left over rc junk, challenged myself to make it go without my usual over designing/thinking/planning procrastinating until I never even start. happy how it turned out! reminds me of a tyco bandit, probably shorten v2 even more and stick that bandit body on.

So my buddy is selling this, it's been sitting 20 years, engine turns over, been stored dry, but plenty of corrosion. Six thousand km on the clock and it's probably true. Tell me I don't want a finicky 250 bhp/ltr explosive powerband impractical smells great does something funny in my pants purple two stroke. I am struggling so hard not to.

Little terraroot decided the paint scheme, I had to limit him to three as he wanted every can in the shed, he didn't do too bad!

Found some nicer bodies, learning some blender as I go

Well, stuck it on, little chassis "cage" fits great, think I'll add some more detail to that and release it, clips and so on, since I lost the hardware to fit the orignal body ha.

Also fiat abarth 131 rally spec ought to look nice with those wheels. or an escort mk2. next!
