Just use Lutris or Heroic for that.

Try Bazzite sometime. It's plug and play.

A lot of reports on ProtonDB are ancient. I would say literally 99% of games work nowadays out of the box.

If you want something similar to SteamOS I recommend checking out Bazzite.

Ubuntu sucks ass. Use Bazzite.

Destiny 2 and Tarkov is my guess.

You just log in with your Steam Account to ProtonDB.

I mean we have tons of anticheat games working on Linux. More than people realize. Elden Ring, The Finals, Overwatch 2, CS2, Apex Legends, xDefiant and more that I can't remember right now. It's not that bad even as a multiplayer gamer. The ones that don't work R6S, Val, LoL, Fortnite, CoD and Destiny pretty much.

I think if you've connected to the net while installing you're done for. XD

This is on an M.2 with a i7-10870H and a 3080M. I installed Windows some days ago on my main Desktop and didn't have to deal with any of that. It must be a new "feature".

I will disagree and that's why I made this video. Been benchmarking games for 3 years now, mostly on AMD systems. It went from about same performance, to slightly better, to this. 17% average improvement is nothing to laugh at. It's the difference between a 4090 and a 7900XTX on Windows. So people can literally save $1000 just by using Linux.

What you say, does mostly apply to Nvidia users though.

The 545 Beta drivers apparently support a ton of new features on Linux like VRR. Frame Gen is the only thing not supported by Proton yet I think.

Tbh though, if you're on Nvidia I would stay on Windows. It's definitey doable to use Linux and get equal performance. Until Nvidia is ready for Wayland though I wouldn't switch.

Good news is NVK is a new Open Source Nvidia Vulkan driver so in like a year or two things should be as good as on AMD. The driver already loads most games with DXVK 1.5.1 but runs them at like 1 FPS if they have anything like Valheim Graphics and above. Reclocking should be coming soon though so the situation will improve. After that it's just working to get all features in and optimize.

A video for any doubters that Linux gaming is better than Windows in which it DESTROYS Windows by 25% in AC Odyssey. To put it in perspective, 25% improvement is like getting a new GPU. You can save $600 and instead use something like OpenSUSE Tumbleweed for free.

DISCLAIMER: I don't really care to make Linux look better but I did a video some days ago and EVERYONE (on Reddit) told me Linux gaming CANNOT be faster or smoother. This is the proof it's both and more videos will be coming.

The avalanche has just began.

I'm not sure where to discuss this so I'm posting here since this is the hub of FOSS advocates.

I had a really interesting conversation with a friend about the Bandcamp situation and as we were discussing it occured to me that something like PeerTube but for music doesn't really exist. Which doesn't make sense in my mind as it's so much less cost to host and so useful. Half of Youtube's audience mainly goes there for music.

So, I don't know, does it make sense for anyone else to work on something Fediverse-based (Activity Pub) that is aimed at music creators?

I would even go as far as allow the creators to host ads on their page so as to attract as many of them as possible. Controversial but we have to take one step at a time to change mindsets. Right now, the situation is that you have to put up with massive advertising or go the FOSS way and depend on donations.

What do you guys think?
