On the basic end: because they're cheaper, use less energy, are more reliable, and last longer.

On the fancy end: have you seen demonstrations of Audi's matrix LEDs? They have the ability to dim specific areas dynamically, so that they can track incoming traffic and keep them in a dim-zone while still keeping the road and shoulders well lit.

Keep in mind that there is nothing special about LEDs that make them brighter; they can make LEDs dimmer and they can make halogens brighter, but the manufacturer has chosen not to.

New doesn't mean no aftermarket

Oh shit, I googled for what I could remember and I found it:

A very scary jack-o'-lantern

Reading this little pumpkin shaped glow in the dark book about a witch. My whimsy levels went through the roof.

I wish I could remember what the book was called

American exceptionalism and identity politics have become so ingrained in the culture that it is too painful for people to identify as lower class and needing assistance. Needing help has become considered a moral failing of the individual instead of a failing of the society, and that feeds back into itself to prevent people from changing the culture.

I don't, but I should.
I don't because my fear of donating to a fraudulent/ineffective organization aligns with my laziness regarding figuring out the best causes and procrastinating in making a budget.

Fear and executive dysfunction, together forming the perfect storm of neurodivergent inaction.

Has a pocket full of horses, fucks the shit out of bears
Threw a knife into heaven, can kill with a stare

I second someone else suggestion: the murderbot diaries. It's great.
Most of the books people here are recommending are fairly lengthy, but you can get through the first murderbot book in a dedicated evening.

Each of the novels is more detached than the last - it's great but probably not for someone just starting their journey into fiction

I really tried to get it to generate Mac from the film Mac and Me, but it just wouldn't

What would aliens think if they leaned we evolved fear as a survival mechanism, but we intentionally seek out situations that trigger our fear response, for fun?

Horror movies, extreme sports, thrill-seeking, it's all weird.

Edit
Changed the title and added an extra line to make it clear I'm talking about the fear response, and not specifically about extreme sports

I know FNAF is a "kids game" but putting it next to the Care Bears seems a bit excessive lol

What could possibly be unexpected, unusual, or surprising about astronauts or the situations they find themselves in?

It's bullshit that the opposite of "impeachable" is "unimpeachable" instead of "peachable"

Here is my attempt:

Scientists couldn't find the head of the starfish. Turns out, the entire thing is head, it's the body that is missing.

To be clear, not talking about this community, obviously 😛.

What's the point of writing down rules, if mods just do what they want? But I suppose that's the risk you take when you call someone a liar in a small community; they might be a mod.

Edit: I'm not trying to say that mods suck, they perform a useful and often thankless job. Just that it can be difficult for small communities to get a healthy number of good mods, which can become a problem.
