I thought I read it in an Oscar Wilde book.

Man, that's sad if true.

Just like Melania, she knows what she got.

Just by reordering the words to "shoots activist dead." Done. Copy editor job unlocked.

Same part of the book, so maybe. I was quoting the part of coming down from the trees generally being a mistake for humanity.

99.9% of wholesome posts do nothing for me. This one had me smiling. Amazing.

Same, but it's the framing of the number that they're calling into question. As if to force people to say "only 6 million of the 17 million," or, "if they're lying about this, what else are they lying about?"

Truly devious and truly maniacal.

Yeah, sure. But I came back with proof of my quote with citations to the pages where they appeared in the book. Or did you miss that part of my comment?

There's actually a biological reason for this, believe it or not. Language and music "time share" many characteristics of both hemispheres of the brain. Language and music are processed in different hemispheres.

Read pages 20-26 of the book "How Music Really Works" by Wayne Chase. It breaks it down in detail.

I got banned from worldnews on lemmy.world for quoting Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The mods said I was being racist. I came back with citations and explained that I was replying to another HHGTTG quote with a line that followed it up in the book.

They wouldn't even consider it. No matter what, my comment "seemed racist."

Lesson: don't try to be clever.
