I totally agree with you, Ayzee.

[–] Aielman15@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Seems really cool! I'll grab it as soon as I have a chance. Always love me some good platformers.

[–] Aielman15@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Nice argument, Emperor Hong. Why don't you back it up with a source?

[–] Aielman15@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

It's just the SSD size.

And to give some money to the poor billion dollar company that is losing the console war.

Thanks for the compliments!

Mark's art has improved dramatically from the early days. I see this Theme as the starting point of something even better.

As I said in my other post, I don't plan on moving to 2024 anytime soon, because I really don't like it: I think it's clunkier than 5e, but at the same time fails at fixing any of the shortcomings of the original game, and I have serious doubts about its balance. I will check on it after the Monster Manual is released, but I'm not holding my breath that WotC's monster design will somehow make it more balanced.

That being said, if my group decides to make the move either to 2024 or to a different system altogether, there's little reason for me to work on 5e content still.

Even if the above doesn't happen, I may work on stuff for personal use to play with my friends, but there's little reason for me to publish it because it will get even less traction that it already does - which is, almost zero. I don't know where people is publishing DnD homebrew stuff nowadays, but all the channels I know of (c/DnDHomebrew on Lemmy, r/UnearthedArcana on Reddit and the Discord of Many Things) are all pretty much dead.

Since DnD2024 is releasing soon and there's not much point in working on 5e classes anymore, I'm releasing everything I've created in the past few months, even if it's not finished.

The Highlander is my revision of the Barbarian. The revision aims at improving both the performance of the class (which, as most people know, was pretty much dead weight after lv~8) and the feeling during play (which means, having things to do other than raging and smashing stuff), while also keeping the core mechanics as close to the original source as possible, and without adding unnecessary complexity.

The class was meant to be played alongside my other homebrew classes, of which I've already released the Heroic Warrior (revamped Fighter). As you can clearly see, this homebrew is not finished: the class itself is functional, but there is only one subclass. I was planning on going back and adding new subclasses after I played a campaign as a Barbarian to get a general feel of how it plays, but I never got the chance and, with DnD2024 approaching, there's not much point anyway, as I don't think that people will play 5e classes anymore.

Having said that, I hope that you'll enjoy it. Feedback are always welcome, and I'm always curious to hear others' opinions on my design choices. Maybe one day I'll finish working on it!

People crying for these Russians, who are in relative safety and who were free to go, are just comical to me.

There is no "relative safety" in war and "free to go" means abandoning their homes and belongings, which is a fucking awful thing to do. Who are you, random armchair commentator, to speak like that?

Where were you when all these Ukrainian cities were shelled and other war crimes happened?

I was crying for them as well, just as I'm crying now, just as I will always cry for people caught in the flames of war, which is one of the worst experiences a person can be asked to live through.

Y'all think that having fucking empathy for civilian lives means rooting for Putin, which is not true. Putin is a dictator, a criminal and an abhorrent human being, and I hope he pays for his crimes. Here, I said it again. But this article is not about Putin, it's about a woman lamenting that her government lied to the population instead of doing anything to protect them, and now she hasn't heard from her elderly parents for days.

It's something that I wouldn't wish happened to anyone, ever. The fact that they are Russians doesn't suddenly change the tale into a comedy. Laughing at the expenses of random civilians who happened to live under the autocratic rule of a violent narcissist is not something that I will ever condone. I can root for the Ukranians while also keeping my humanity. But apparently you can switch it on and off at will depending on who you are looking at.

[–] Aielman15@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

I said nothing about Ukranians' actions being unjustified, nor do we have any reason yet to think that war crimes are being committed in the area. If this brings them an inch closer to winning the war, I wholly support them.

Still, laughing at people suffering because of war is such an abhorrent behaviour to exhibit, and the fact that people are bending logic to justify it is wild.

You all should learn some empathy.

My DM skills are a bit rusty, so I hope I'll be able to pull it off!

LINDAR - Justiciar Unholy Ravager

spoilerLindar never flaps her wings too far away from her twin, Useni. Despite their differences, the two are inseparable and often act and think as one. While her brother delights in weaving a web of deceit and treachery around his prey, Lindar relies on her powers to face threats head-on. By combining their strengths and offsetting their weaknesses, the twins are formidable opponents to even the most seasoned party of heroes.

USENI - Stalker Living Myth

spoilerUseni never flaps his wings too far away from his twin, Lindar. Despite their differences, the two are inseparable and often act and think as one. While his sister relies on brute strength, Useni prefers to approach things at his own pace, setting traps, illusions and wearing down his foes through cunning tactics. By combining their strengths and offsetting their weaknesses, the twins are formidable opponents to even the most seasoned party of heroes.

BAKARI - Guardian Detached Watcher

spoilerBakari is the odd one out. He departed from the nest centuries ago to wander the world in solitude. He rarely can be bothered to intervene in matters of importance, largely acting as a passive spectator of history. Still, he knows a lot more than he lets on, and he will attempt to thwart his family's plans by aiding the party in some critical moments, for what is there to see in a world that lies in ruins? Unfortunately, his help often comes in the form of cryptic advice... although he may have some rare artifacts to spare that he has found in his travels.

DEVLIN - Rampager Worldbreaker

spoilerThe oldest of the bunch and Asher's second-in-command. He once despised his siblings and departed the nest. Amiable and charismatic, he joined the elves and was welcomed among them, who gave him the name of Alvar. But in the heat of war, his affable personality quickly gave way to an insatiable bloodlust, which he believed to be his father's curse, and from which he attempted to run away from. When war reached him, he fought bravely to protect his allies, but ended up unleashing destruction upon friends and foes alike, ultimately causing the death of the Elven King. Shunted off by his former allies, he let rage consume him, razed their cities, and returned to his nest. Expecting Asher's wrath, he was instead welcomed with open arms. From that moment on, he became her shadow, following her orders passively as long as she allowed him to spill blood.

ASHER - Basara Annihilator

spoilerWith a keen intellect and a thirst for power, Asher, the second hatch of the nest, has always been ambitious. When she was only a few centuries old, she devised a daring plan to infiltrate her father's lair - an ancient wyrm of untold powers. Using her cunning intellect, she managed to outwit him, ultimately killing him and taking over his territory. Smart and manipulative, she recognized her father's solitary nature as his biggest weakness and decided to keep her siblings close and loyal to her through a mix of fear, respect, and genuine care - for there's nothing more powerful than a dragon, except for a bunch of dragons.

In the past few months, I have been working on revamped classes for DnD5e for personal use. This is my revamped Fighter, which I've played in a (still ongoing) campaign for the past few months and had a blast with.

Unfortunately, with DnD 2024 approaching, I see very little incentive in working on this still. I don't even think people will be interested in trying it with the new rules. I don't like DnD 2024 and the 2024 Fighter looks bland and boring to me, so I'll keep playing this one instead, but I don't see myself updating it further in the future unless I find a really broken combo that needs addressing.

So, this is kind of the end, and it's a bit bittersweet to me.

Please, enjoy :)

Inkarnate is giving away 10-days free Pro membership, so I took the bait and tried it. I decided to use the limited time to bring a very old concept of mine to life, which I originally conceived as a kid in high school. Overall, there's a lot of improvements to be made (especially since I decided to stick to the original concept as much as possible, which was... not very good to begin with lol), but I had a lot of fun and it allowed me to unwind a bit before going to bed, which was nice.

Not sure if I'll stick to Inkarnate Pro, however. Inkarnate is good, but it's web browser-only and subscription-only, which are both dealbreakers for me. I think I'll try Wonderdraft next!

I'm a huge Talisman fan but I wasn't aware that a new edition was being released, and I thought that others would appreciate the news.

If I sort a multicommunity by 'Hot', it will show all posts from community 1, then all posts by community 2, etc... kind of defying the purpose of a multicommunity at all. I solved it by sorting by 'New' instead, but I figured I'd mention it here because it took me a while to notice - I thought people were not making new posts at all, while in fact, it was just displaying all posts by a lowly populated community first.
