I believe it set her up for parks and rec which was another great show.

Yeah, but the writing and acting was well done enough, that even if at the time you could separate it and make a pros cons list and tally it out, it still wouldn't have felt right because Jim was so obviously in love with Pam and not her (and sometimes that happens irl too).

I think her role in the office was good. It kept the absurdity grounded with the realism.
