One thing that the Democratic Party does almost better than anyone else else is to kick itself in the balls when it really counts

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

I mean, the kick in the balls was preventing any semblance of a primary. Biden has never been winning, at any point, in this election. Shit the guy has made New Jersey into a swing state.

They needed to drop Biden a year ago, 9 months ago, 6 months ago, 3 months ago, and yes, still need to drop him right now. You can't both simultaneously claim that Democracy is on the line, and that the guy absolutely floundering to even gain traction in this election when the DNC literally didn't even allow primary challengers is the guy who can do it. Democrats can't suffer that loss and win the EC.

The only path to victory post November 2023 for the Democrats has been to hold Biden to his bridge candidate campaign promise. He literally flipped the upper midwest states Red with his position on Gaza.

Maybe.. MAYBE we can turn this ship around after the previous 8 months of narcissistic idiocy on the part of both Joe Biden and Blue MAGA. Its going to be a fuck ton of work, but if we can get literally anyone who will be responsive to the will of the voters, I think it can be done.

A dead dog should be able to beat trump in an election. The fact that he has any votes at all is a stark reminder that there are millions of mentally ill, completely incompetent adults out there.

Even a dead dog needs time to turn the ship.

Biden would have won if they held a proper primary. I'm not sure what else you expect would have happened

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world -1 points 1 month ago

Maybe. Or maybe he would have gone on stage and mumble and fumbled and the now famous:

anyways...

Also, he could have been approached directly about his position on Gaza. Could have challenged him on peoples lived experience versus the "economy".

And if he knocks all that out of the park, he sure as fuck should be the candidate.. but to steal another Bidenism

[hushed whisper]

He's not going to be

So maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't have won. Because he's not going to win this one.

I'll cross my fingers but I won't hold my breath.

I'm seeing key Democrats saying that it's time for him to go in a way that I haven't seen before.

The whole thing is utterly unprecedented.

You might make the claim that the 'Grover and the mugwumps' situation was similar, but even then, frankly not even on the same scale. And at least in that situation the differences were legitimately political (fiat vs gold vs silver vs agrarian).

[–] Microw@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

TIL there was a band called The Mugwumps. Not sure what they have to do with Glover though

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Grover and the mugwumps’

One positive outcome of the failed Biden candidacy; being able to use the phrase "Grover and the mugwumps" unironically.

Hooray! The democrats always seek the perfect over the good....jfc

Can we stop posting republican rhetoric here or ban republican news outlets? Biden will never stop if people watch his speeches.
