Welcome to c/WouldYouRather, where we present you with the toughest, most ridiculous choices you never knew you had to make! Would you rather have a third arm that's only useful for picking your nose, or be able to talk to animals but only if they're wearing hats? Yeah, it's that kind of vibe. Come for the absurdity, stay because you've clearly got nothing better to do with your life.

I would eat Taco Bell and shit on pedestrians.

Every time I see a comment so ridiculous I think only I could have written it, it's always you

Run at a 100.

Flying at 10 mph gets you locked up in a CIA lab.

Run at 100 lets you become a professional runner (just run slightly faster than the record. Don't run at a 100 mph.).

I kinda wanna fly just for the sake of it, but now I fear the CIA

I think that would depend on how much work either of these are.

Does running 100mph feel the same as normal running?

How much work is flying?

If running and flying are the same amount of work, then I probably won't be able to fly very far.

Edit

Nevermind, OP said don't worry about the physical part.

I WANT TO FLY.

Although flying appears much more fun, running at 100mph is pretty insane, it turns you into half as fast as Sonic.

I could dash off rooftop at that speed and then glide on wingsuit, should get me quite far, I choose running.

Thats is a mental transportation system but you do you

I like the way you think. Completely sold me on running.

[–] idledrift@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I’d say fly 10 mph, might still be faster than running 100mph when going to point b. You can fly high then glide down at a faster speed and any destination is a direct line.

[–] mipadaitu@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

10mph is pretty dang fast, especially since you can just go over buildings and obstacles. Slower than a bike in a straight line, but much faster otherwise when you don't need roads.

In most populated areas, you can get just about anywhere faster than any other mode of transportation.

Yeah I like that. Also stairs are annoying

Run. I want to really confuse a traffic cop.

[–] Today@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Fly. Avoiding ground obstacles would probably be faster than very fast running.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

Fly, thank you.

When I have dreams of flying, it isn't fast. It's just floating along and enjoying the journey. Besides, it's faster than walking, especially with being disabled and stuck using a cane.

So, even if running that fast took away the disability while running, I'd still rather fly. Id still rather fly if it was at my walking speed

I would fly. 10mph is plenty to get me to work or just run errands and would just be fun af.

When we walk of run atleast we have our limbs moving. With flying I feel like it would be more boring, it would feel like being in an elevator. Also pull a lot of attention.

[–] wazzupdog@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

All i can say is "send it" idgaf what people think i'm flying.

This question brings me back to lvl 7 on city of heroes.

Fly. Cars are much easier to get a seat on than planes. Also, slow flying in tight areas is really hard for aircraft to do, so I'll have some pretty unique capabilities - you could argue 10 is better than 1000.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If I pick running, then I'll need super sight and reactions as well since there will be other people and cars on the path/roads.

Flying, yep.

[–] 0laura@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

no better reaction or sight than when driving at 100mph. the issue would probably be the wind or your shoes or something like that.

[–] SweetCitrusBuzz@beehaw.org 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Fly, because then I could visit folks I care about whenever I wanted.

[–] rbesfe@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

At 10 mph? Why not just run down the highway?

[–] SweetCitrusBuzz@beehaw.org 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Because I don't live on the land masses where the people I care about live, so the only way to get there would be to fly.

[–] noxfriend@beehaw.org 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It would take 41 days non-stop flying to cross the Atlantic at that speed. Bit of an extreme example but yeah

[–] SweetCitrusBuzz@beehaw.org 2 points 1 month ago

Sure, but at least it would be free.

[–] Didros@beehaw.org 2 points 1 month ago

Everyone saying run, how do you know you can't? 🤔

I've always thought that if I could fly, it would probably tire me out faster than running, which tires me out faster than walking. If that were the case, honestly? I ain't running places either, what makes you think I would fly there?
