So he's been president for 8 years and has completed both of his terms?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 46 points 1 month ago

Republicans were totally with them until the Allah part.

[–] paddirn@lemmy.world 33 points 1 month ago

Ok, so he’s ineligible to run again I guess.

I am ready to bet that he doesn't know "inshallah" is an Arabic expression. I can't imagine a trump voter using it otherwise.

Technically, we have been playing along since governments existed

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Thinking of that Key and Peele sketch. Someone describing the government with the tone of a libertarian.

"So we have them vote to think they have power, steal their money and call it taxes, provide basic services and limited other functions. Then in 200-300 years, just walk away."

"Motherfucker that's a government!"

Maybe the secret is in the emoji. What the hell does “🫒🦅🏹” mean?

[–] JJROKCZ@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Someone else answered as well but it’s the components of the great seal of the United States, the seal is an eagle holding an olive branch and a bundle of arrows to symbolize our desire for peace but capacity for war

Oil, democracy, war : You've got oil? We bring you democracy, by invading you.

I'm having trouble with that last sentence, what's it supposed to mean?

[–] Sakychu@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

"(In) Sha Allah" is an expression which can be translates to "if gods wills". It refers to the idea that in Islamic religions nothing happens without god wanting it.

But more colloquially it is used as a wish of something to happend.

Cabal can either refer to a secret group of individuals who gather for political influence or as a synonym for conspiracy.

So the sentence could be read as: "hopefully a cabalic takeover will turn into a federal takedown*"

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think it reads more like "Hopefully the secret political group takeover that occurred will result in their federal takedown". However, my fluency in 'nutjob' is pretty rusty.

[–] Sakychu@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Oh yeah right my brain changed "takedown" to a 2nd "takeover". That makes a little more sense!

[–] S491@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

It is also used by parents who want to shut their kids up when they are asking something

Kids in car: can we get McDonald's?

Parents driving: inshallah (no)

I think they're trying to suggest Biden is in office as part of some Qabalist ritual. I think they just don't know how to spell Qaballah.

[–] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago

Inshallah is Arabic for "God willing".
