Ouch. They're gonna have a rough time tbh. Waaay more distrust and dislike of organized religion on lemmy than reddit

They can always make their own instance if they want to.

I remember one being created few months back but idk if it survived. It was a general religious instance.

This one? https://faithlemmy.online/

It's small, but it's still running.

Well, how I remember Reddit from back when I was lurking there ten years ago or so, it was full of annoying atheists.

(I'm also an atheist and I'm probably annoying at times, but I try not to be too annoying about my atheism)

It's like almost anything. When a person takes their beliefs and waves them around to show off, it gets old fast. When they try and use it as justification to mess with other people, well, you get reddit atheists lol.

I know. Hope we can all be welcoming if they end up coming here, I mean as long as they don't push their views on others. I want this to be a nicer place than Reddit. Not sure if that's realistic lol.

Yeah, I hope so too. And that they don't stink up the place either. Religious folks can be a pain in the ass, even when their religion isn't about a deity. The ones that do monotheism tend to just be a tad less willing to coexist.

In the end, the problem with Christian conservatives is not that they are Christian at all, but that they are conservative. More often than not they are awful Christians if the stories of Christ are anything to go by.

Jesus: “And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.“

Joel Osteen: “I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over the whine of the engines on my private jet!”

But a slightly better atmosphere and some more liberian perspectives. I'm not sure. I'd say this might not turn out to be a big issue if people moderate well enough.

Yeah, lemmy has a good overall climate that usually allows for folks to have their space, but also not allow them to piss on other picnics

They mentioned !progressivechristian@sh.itjust.works - Could someone tell them that it is possible to remod old communities, by asking the admins?

Edit: done!

Didn't know that Christianity was a big topic on Lemmy

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Whatever makes people happy. Just don't force your views on the rest of us.
