I've got stacking tubs (~4L and ~9L) with metal sheets on the bottom, as I have magnets in my bases.
You should be able to get adhesive sheets of magnetic material that your bases will stick on.
I have a large wide rubbermaid container that I've bolted a metal plate to. Magnets on the underside of the bases of the minis. Minis stick to the rubbermaid and don't shift around. It's certainly some upfront work, but once it is set up, it makes transportation easy.
The other common method, which I used to primarily use is a dedicated minis case that has foam trays. It works ok to carry uniformly shaped and size infantry, but it struggles with bigger or weirdly posed minis, and the foam can still rub on edges over time.

If you magnetize, just get the biggest one you can easily carry. No real need to plan out the interior, since all the minis can stick to the bottom.

Feldherr has the right solution for many transportation issues. From small bags for a couple of minis to large cases big enough for tournament armies, from simple infantry foam trays to customizable, incremental foam inlays from 25 mm to 100 mm thickness for tanks and monsters.
Glue small magnets to the bottom of each base. Use a tool box or glue a sheet of ferrous metal to the bottom of a plastic tub. magnet bases are also nice for painting and priming.
I've got steel discs in the bases currently because I didn't want my minis crashing together with magnets in their bases.
My painting handle has magnets on top which really helps with holding the minis for painting as those magnets don't mess around. I've also got a bunch of those magnets as I use them for projects all the time.
I'll probably lay them out in a grid in a Rubbermaid tub and model up some shelves for the inside.
Do you mean at home or for travel?
At home I have a display case :)
For travel, if they fit, (small monsters, npcs, adventurers, etc) I put them in toilet paper tubes that I’ve cut in half with a bit of TP to keep them snug if needed. Then I put them all in a box.
