A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.

This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.

Rules

  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
  4. No political or social cause agenda pushing.

Lousy smarch weather.

This thread is permanent place for hobbying questions, resources, and discussion. Feel free to post questions or work-in-progress updates here if you don't want to make a whole new thread for them, or post any great hobby resources you find so they can stay pinned at the top of the community.

Don't let this thread put any limits on your posting. This is meant to be a place in addition to, rather than instead of seeing new posts on the community.

Coming from the world of D&D where all my minis are basically just stored in tins and boxes loosely, I really don't want to do that with my first Warhammer army.

So that's basically why I'm asking, how do you folks store and transport your armies?

All my minis have steel discs glued to their bases to attach to my custom painting handle, so they can be magnetically attached to things.

The current official models are downright embarrassing, so here's my take.

Going through some boxes and found a stack of old White Dwarf. I'll keep the first issue I ever bought as a memory but planning to get rid of the rest. Just wanted to check if there are people collecting these before they go into the recycling bin. If anyone's interested I can make a list of which ones I have, and I'll send them to anyone willing to pay for postage. Located in Sweden.

Been working away on these pair for a while. After seeing how much it was going to cost to buy an original I decided to make my own. One is inspired by the classic kit, the other by the original scratch built model from the Rogue Trader rule book. Both were printed on my Ender 3 with no supports.

They are available on my Cults3D page if anyone is interested.

This is a diorama I'm currently working on of a burning loyalist. The guy setting him on fire is going to be a word bearer. This will be my entry for my LGS's painting contest.

Starting my Necrons with the KT box. I wasn’t sure about the color scheme till I painted the blue lines which made it come alive.

Still not sure what to paint the bases other than black to get a good contrast. Open to any ideas.

After having essentially a full Eldar army sitting around for years, I finally got my oldest son into the game and started painting them to have a third army to pick (you know, for some variety). Decided to use the grey/orange Yme-Loc paint scheme because I like the design of the Eldar superheavies and their rules allow me to field some more. What do you think?

Warmaster Update!

No pictures today, but hopefully some this week, but I've finally found the motivation to work on the Warmaster titan again. Did a large amount of Miliput gap-filling over the weekend and did sanding today. Should be ready to do the first primer coat of the frame tomorrow, then more sanding.
For paint I'm thinking: metallic spray primer, wood stain (mahogany?), then dry brush a different metallic.
