This is it, it's the perfect example of adaptation through sexual selection.

It helps to think of your hair as essentially being a mane. Remember, lion manes also expose their forehead.
Better non-verbal communication with your peers. Same thing for having white eyeballs and dark irises, everyone around you knows exactly what your looking at.
Male orangutans don't have their faces completely covered with hair.
So it's not just humans.
other animals have hair but less around the face. The hair on top of my golden retriever is long but around the face it does not grow long. For all practical purposes the area around the snout and eyes is bare.
George Carlin said it best, yes a receding hairline is annoying, but no where near as bad as an advancing hairline.
Who would want to have to shave their forehead?

long forehead hair would be hard to keep out of your face. there's survival fitness in not having hair cover your eyes /speculation
If I look surprised, would my eyebrows be technically on my forehead, thus giving it hair? 🤔
