Idk how the media still doesn’t know how to deal with trump. If they just start headlines with: “trump lies again, this time about _______”

…but alas the circus is profitable

Plus, he'll sue every time that happens, making them waste money on lawyers and court costs.

"Was Trump lying? [...]"

Can't sue if it's a question!

You can even add "again" and mention an example of him saying he never said something that has actually been recorded.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee -1 points 1 month ago

You can sue for anything. It'll still take time to get thrown out.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Worst case scenario, the lawyers they already have on retainer get it thrown out of court, since truth is an absolute defense against libel charges.

BEST case, they get a judge Aileen Cannon type judge who's actually crazy enough to let it go to trial. There's no better publicity possible for a news outlet than fighting for free speech in court against a wannabe dictator.

I heard trump has a "project 2025" (Проект 2025) tattoo under his diapers. That's what people are sayin', good people, many people.

I heard it's right next to his "Владимир 💘" one. A tremendous tattoo. Everyone agrees. Nothing comes close.

I heard it from a seven star general. A big, strong man. With tears in his eyes he came to me; he said “Sir. Sir…”

[–] KevonLooney@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

Why does it matter? I thought trump dropped out. Lots of people were calling for him to explain himself or drop out. He can't even give an interview about it so I thought he stepped down.

This is exactly the point. He can say he loves project 2025, then say he's never heard of it and his base just take it as a secret message to fuck shit up because trump is "just pretending it doesn't exist to play the politics". He can randomly spew X person is callling the shots at any time to send the media on a rampage.

There needs to be accountability, there was a time where politicians pretended they weren't lying/gaslighting/ragebaiting/sealioning/dogwhistling or whatever, Trump brought all these to normalcy.

A news station would have to run back to back videos of him saying something and then lying about it for a month or so. Everyone is desensitized to it. It isn’t shocking, it’s expected. They’d have to relegate all other news to the ticker to cover anything other than his lies.

And you know what? Half the country would still vote for him.

On top of that, he’s been over covered already and his base believes anything that is said about him must be an attack on him.

The number of people who are voting for him who have no idea he said that whole “suspend the constitution” bit would blow your mind. Look up videos of supporters being asked what they think of the line before being told Trump said it. They either don’t care or they refuse to believe it.

I don't know nothing

Yes you do, you've just used a double negative.

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Sounds to me like he knows nothing, but it sounds interesting, so he's bringing in an expert to learn more.

Of course he is fully aware of it and wants to implement every bit of it's anti-american policies.
