If they didn't want to be hungry, they should have eaten their bootstraps and cooked a small business.

Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked.

George Carlin

There was also "have you ever noticed that most of the women who are against abortion are women you wouldn't want to fuck in the first place?"

Edit: whether you like it or not, this was an actual George Carlin quote from one of his HBO specials in the '80s. I laughed uproariously at the time - along with the audience - but I can see how it's a questionable sentiment today. Although it's still completely accurate.

What's ~~funny~~ sad about South Dakota is that it's a welfare state. Wouldn't really exist without fed money. Love the message of "we'll accept charity but not offer it if we don't have to"

Remember, there are tons of people urging you to not vote against this shit. Call them out. Don’t ignore them.

And vote like lives depend on it!

[–] superminerJG@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Then again, lives do depend on it!

I'm perfectly fine saying conservatives aren't good people, and I'm not going to pretend they are.

Do we need to add to those laws a "if your state opts out, we will setup a charity to force this on you?"

Or UBI....

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Good luck getting that through.

Kids can read the ten commandments on the classroom wall and the lord will fill their hearts and they won’t be hungry anymore. Hooray.

/s

It's OK if kids starve so long as they're not coveting their neighbors' slaves.
