Hide under a cardboard box and slowly inch your way across the broadcast frame and out of the studio

[–] Boozilla@lemmy.world 49 points 2 weeks ago

Is there a printer in the room? Print off a photo of one of your least favorite coworkers, use it as a paper mask, leave.

Any studio I'm familiar with has an airlock specifically so you can enter and leave during the broadcast.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 22 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

This is a small studio in an office that has an insulated door, but is located next to the kitchen, so if I open the door it will make noise.

The suido is not fully working at the moment so we use a Logitech meetup unit with a sensitive mic at the moment.

We have a full setup with a good camera , wireless mics, video switcher, lights, but that is not working amazingly at the moment.

[–] vk6flab@lemmy.radio 18 points 2 weeks ago

You could send an SMS or email to someone in the building and get them to clear the kitchen so you can exit.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Sounds like you could also ruin that recording with a loud fart. Or laugh, or cough. But I'd go for a fart - would be a fantastic way to ruin a scene.

What do you do for the studio? Just making conversation

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 28 points 2 weeks ago

I am an IT guy with an interest in AV technology, so I was asked and accepted to handle the technology as I had some knowledge and understanding of it.

My employer is not a media company, it is a company in a completely different sector that has a media production department and produce videos as part of our brand/company values.

My task is to keep the equipment setup when we are running live broadcasts.

Talk us through it.. how have you come to this predicament? What stopped you from eating breakfast? What do you mean stuck? Do you even work there?

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I am an IT guy with an interest inphorography and av technology, I helped set up the camera and then they started the broadcast without me having time to get out.

[–] credo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It seems they forgot about you :(

Was the broadcast at a scheduled time?

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh the broadcast was fine! And I am on my way to the food now!

[–] GuyDudeman@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

There’s food? Must be a nice studio.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 12 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Sorry, I should have said that the broadcast was done and I finally got food

[–] papertowels@lemmy.one 3 points 2 weeks ago

Woohoo! A well earned meal

[–] JoeKrogan@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

What did you eat in the end ?

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I have a riddle for you.

What can go up a chimney down, but not down a chimney up?

[–] dependencyinjection@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Thanks. I usually suck at riddles, so I either subconsciously knew this from hearing it before or I’m getting better.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

I say you’re getting better unless proven otherwise.

[–] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I was thinking like one of those umbrella-y chimney sweeper brushes lol

[–] jeena@piefed.jeena.net 12 points 2 weeks ago

Count all the cables!

[–] NeoNachtwaechter@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

When you walk through, look away from the camera.

Then it wasn't you!

[–] Im_old@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

For next time, retroarch and gameboy roms

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I just grabbed Retroarch from the Appstore...

I do however need a controller for my iPhone....

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

You can use touch controls usually, especially with RPGs. GB games like Final Fantasy Legend (aka SaGa) got my though similar boredom.

[–] squid_slime@lemm.ee 6 points 2 weeks ago

I think your ready to become a star, walk up there and show em what you got!

[–] thedirtyknapkin@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

there's no roll Ins you can sneak out during?

[–] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Walk over, they have nothing on you and they can't detain you

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

If I didn't work here, I would, but I do and I don't want to be fired.

[–] Boomkop3@reddthat.com 0 points 2 weeks ago

Ey, you better claim that extra pay

[–] Bluetreefrog@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Not an open-ended question. Locking.

[–] redline23@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Claim low blood sugar and go acquire sustenance? Download and read your favorite trashy feel good book?

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Good idea on the book I have a series on my phone.

[–] andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

Do you have something to provide or configure for them, like adjusting mic, camera, light, whatever? The idea is - you do something better for them, you wink at each other and then you go in the opposite direction. When you work like that, you are perceived as a different kind of a person, like a photographer, with all rights to smoothly break rules to produce the best result without a punishment. I worked like that some time ago and the ability to confidently walk on the stage and fix critical fuck ups while chameleoning with the background is one of the things I'm grateful to learn. Except for chromokey, you pop like a bloody wound on the chromokey bg and that's hard to edit out.

And as I see you've already escaped. That's great.
