For some reason lemmy shitpost suddenly became politics focused

[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I have a hard time handling all the bad shit in the world. I noticed lately I open Lemmy much less because of all the doom posts. I already deleted reddit and disabled YouTube. Lemmy is all I have left as social media, but it's getting less attractive by the day.

You are probably browsing lemmy using 'All' filter instead of 'subscribed' which only shows posts from communities where you have subscribed.

[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Partly true, there isn't much I'm subscribed to so I'm through the list fairly quickly. I'm having a hard time finding stuff I find interesting but isn't junk. Generally, stuff happening in the world interests me, but lately I'm having a hard time handling all the bad shit.

That’s why you then go to local, not all

[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

I get it in local too

It's become so much better since I started banning communities. I might unban them in a year or so, but for now my timeline stays clean.

[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago

Nice, I'll go do that too, thanks!

[–] trolololol@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

You're banned too You're welcome

[–] SurfinBird@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 months ago

Glad to see I’m not the only one.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 months ago

I don't care about normal politics what annoys me is the Tankies climbing out of the wood work to tell you about the evil evil "west"

[–] orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts 2 points 4 months ago

It’s kind of unavoidable honestly, and no one should be shocked. Tons of people are finally learning that democracy in the US died years ago. I usually just scroll past or engage in a limited manner. I already have other communities to discuss that stuff and Lemmy is mostly an escape.

American - sees a shitpost about beans

Butterfly meme

"Is this a post about politics and/or religion?"

[–] Fades@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Yeah only America talks about their own politics or religions during pivotal times directly related to those things

[–] VelvetStorm@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Yep, same here. I already have a lot of existential dread about shit I can't do anything about, so why wouldn't I ban them. Hell I have a lot of title words filtered out too

[–] moosetwin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 4 months ago

this mf out here becoming a mod on every instance so they can ban politics communities

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 0 points 4 months ago

Funny enough, from some of the replies I get to my posts, some of them relating to us politics, I can only assume that people either don't notice or don't care about what instance I'm connected to.

It's a fun game.... At least, I'm entertained by it.
