It really says something about the state of the Russian military that they have to buy up the trash that's too crappy for North Korea's army.

North Korea’s army which, whilst having a stranglehold on available resources in its threadbare economy, hasn’t seen combat since the 1950s. Its actual combat readiness may fall short of its rhetoric.

They can't even stop their own guys sprinting off across the DMZ.
They have actually made that near impossible since 2020. The amount of successful escapes per year is now less than 10% of before
South Korea is going to have a wealth of embarrassing NK military footage from this to use in their cross border propaganda deliveries. That could damage morale inside North Korea in a way that’s never been seen before.
Fingers crossed this dumb decision hurts their regime hard.
To my knowledge, people close to the borders where propaganda can effectively reach are already quite aware that their government is a joke. They're just stuck there.
Their military is really good at marching in unison!
The irony of Russians bitching about cosmoline is rich af
Why?
Russians covered all their wepons in it for storage.
My mosin from the 1940s still reeks of it.
Cosmoline smells more like "gun" to me than gunpowder.
Brake clean is handy for that. (if you don't like the smell)
I don't actually know what they got in exchange, but I'm guessing the N Koreans got the better end of the deal.
Nuclear technology. Or ICBM assistance.
Idk if Russia can even help with the latter as 4/5 of their new missiles have failed to launch
There's a lot of technological possibilities. Also just things like food imports.
Nuclear submarine tech
I would assume access to modern airplanes.
I hope a few go off while they are being cleaned.
They don’t even go off in the tubes.
JFC, that would be such a pain in the ass for them if those dud mortar rounds got stuck in the mortar tubes.
What do you even do in that situation? You have to assume it can go off at any time right ?
Ask one of the NK guys to get it out.
Typically there's a documented hang fire wait time before starting any recovery process.
Though the official process and the actual process is probably pretty different, especially after multiple hang fires.
Eventually they probably just see the dud, flip over the mortar to dump out the dud, throw it as far as possible, then try the next one.
I hope they All go off while being cleaned.
Can someone give me the over-under on this ending hilariously with a large plume, 0 remaining munitions, and a whole bunch of roasted Orc?
May them blow in your faces
You can really see why they were so desperate to get nukes huh?
