lemmy.ml 🧐

[–] StraponStratos@lemmy.sdf.org 19 points 3 weeks ago

Well yeah, don’t use ml or hex if you don’t want this stupidity.

[–] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.sdf.org 14 points 2 weeks ago

ml is a cesspool. It's best not to even bother engaging in their communities. They'll ban you for stupid shit. This needs to be made more well known to help break the network effect they have going on with some of their communities.

[–] superkret 14 points 2 weeks ago

They didn't remove it because of the "girl".
They removed it because "It's all a simulation" implies that the glory of the Chinese Communist Party isn't real.

[–] JackGreenEarth@lemm.ee 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I saw that comment, before it was removed. I thought it was relevant as the post was about misgendering.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

I guess it was too friendly and subtle. They needed me to be seething to feel secure about my intentions.

Worth mentioning is the comment had 34 upvotes and 1 down. So it wasn't exactly controversial, from a community perspective.

Bro, that is lemmy. If you haven't noticed, that's how tankies operate here. They don't just post straight propaganda, they rile you up and make you angry and make you question the way you talk to people, when in fact you did nothing wrong.

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

This. 100%

They gaslight pretty much everyone that posts there. I only had limited, occasional interactions with that instance and almost every time it was negative. I started to wonder what I was doing that was making me so misunderstood, which was getting me into all kinds of discussions...

Once I figured it out and blocked the entire instance from my profile, I've had a lot of interactions on Lemmy and I'm no longer walking on eggshells every time I post a comment.

I'm just grateful that the asshats all converged into a few instances so I can just block the entire instance and have a great time on Lemmy.

This is lemmy. You cannot talk to people with any sort of friendliness or familiarity because tankies don't understand such things and it confuses and enrages them. You cannot use colloquial words or phrases because tankies are too stupid to look them up, let alone understand them. And god help you if you call out any bullshit propaganda. The best thing to do here is to just read the posts because if you try to interact like a normal person, you will get removed/banned/blocked/ignored. They don't want to admit it, but this place is as bad as redditβ€”worse in some waysβ€”just without the shareholders enshittifying use and access.

I'm on programming.dev and haven't had any issue with "communist propaganda"... What communities are you referring to?

[–] turtlepower@lemm.ee 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Propaganda is not just blatant, in-your-face, "fight the red menace" kinda shit. It also includes things like altering speech and thought through subtle means. The tone on lemmy as a whole differs greatly to that of pretty much anywhere else on the internet, and not in a good way.

[–] hex@programming.dev 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And do you think Capitalism is the correct/ideal system for us to operate under?

[–] turtlepower@lemm.ee 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

What the fuck does capitalism have to do with controlling thought and speech? Fuck outta here with your bad-faith argument bitch. Go suck your daddy Pootin's cock.

[–] hex@programming.dev 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Umm you kept mentioning tankies, so I assumed you liked capitalism or something. Or at least I was trying to ask you that, but...

The irony of you saying you can't have a conversation with anyone on lemmy without it being aggressive πŸ˜‚ If everyone you meet smells like shit, maybe you stepped in shit.

I'm trying to ask what your ideal society looks like, that's all

[–] turtlepower@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I despise unfettered capitalism, but I hate communism even more.

There is no such thing as an ideal society. Someone always gets shit on. I'm sick and fucking tired of commie bitches fucking with everyone. And don't go thinking I ever liked it when we do it, either. Everyone needs to start worrying about their own damn selves because ALL governments are fucked up at this point. Not to mention, why the fuck are they even doing this to us, the common people? Why hack my empty bank account? Does that help Pootin or Xinnie or that bitch Modi somehow? Because it certainly doesn't make me hate my government. It makes me hate those countries. It also sucks for the common people of those countries, because while I would like to be friendly those that are innocent, I sure as fuck don't trust them without them having to prove themselves to an extreme because of what their society is like. I have lived and frequented other countries. I have seen what a lot of the world is like. There is no excuse for this shit other than being trash human beings.

[–] hex@programming.dev 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I hear you. I also hate unfettered capitalism and I don't think plain communism is the answer either. We need a system where we support each other as small self sustaining communities, but that's hardly possible at the current population size. I really feel lost in this society, just going along trying to keep an imaginary wheel spinning that doesn't even benefit me. It's awful. Ideal scenario for me is to go off grid and start homesteading.. but I'm just a developer with no homesteading skills for now

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm glad you two could work through your differences, and celebrate your commonalities.

[–] hex@programming.dev 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Thank you! And well said hahaha πŸ˜‚

[–] qrstuv@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 2 weeks ago

I'm so sorry that happened to you.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Yep, has happened to me before!

[–] secret300@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

That's dumb. Every mod at ml seems to be mentally challenged

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

This is more common than you'd expect.

For the record, I didn't see your post, but from the replies from people that did, it doesn't sound like it should have been a problem.

My advice is to block the whole instance from your profile. I did this and I'm much happier for it.

I just ignore that instance in its entirety, and ignore the fact that it even exists. Not worth my time.

[–] VanillaBean@lemmy.world -3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

It's because Lemmy as a whole is a toxic cesspool. Thankfully, it will never gain much traction. The end.
