This is my paint job on Yasashii's "Mind Flayer / Illithid Tabletop Miniature" from Thingiverse.

This was one of the first prints off of my resin printer, and the first piece I attempted air brushing; to make both of these a little easier, I scaled him up a bit, so he isn't quite "tabletop minature" scale, but still much smaller than what I'd been used to painting (~70mm tall).

Everything except for the red eyes and purple highlights on the armor was done with a 0.3mm airbrush.

Here are a couple different angles:

Unfortunately one of the robe dangly bits snapped off the back before I could start painting. I didn't expect the paint job to turn out this decent so I didn't bother reprinting, kinda wish I had.

You should paint his nails. It looks like he's admiring a new manicure.

Hmm, would they be a vibrant purple to match the armor? Or a red maroon color to match to robes? Or maybe the mind flayer would black it's nails out. Probably that.

I'd definitely go with neon green if I was that mind flayer.

I love the creepy fleshy tones used throughout. Great job

Nice job, dude. I'm not familiar with Mind Flayer, but he kind of looks like Cthulhu to me.

Thank you!

The mind flayer is a monster that is found in the DnD universe. As the name suggests, they consume the mind of their prey.

They do look quite a lot a humanoid Cthulhu. Slightly larger than the average human, so much smaller than the real thing, and they don't have the crazy tentacle aura type things, just the ones coming from their face.

Looks great! Did you prime the mini before painting? I see some grey shining through at a few edges, that can happen when the paint doesn't stick to the plastic

Thank you! Yes, he was primed, I think that the bits were they gray is peaking out happened when I was applying the wash at the end, I may have wore away some of the paint with my brush.

Here are some progress pics before and after a prime + zenithal shade:

looks sweet either way.
might just have been a bit too aggressive or quick with the wash then, it happens.
not noticable on the shelf i'm sure

Thanks, yeah it's really only noticeable under direct lights like in the photos. Otherwise it blends in the with muted purples.

He clearly hasn't been dumping STR.

The macros you get from filleting minds is insane.
