Such great acting, if I didn't know any better I'd say that there are no thoughts behind those eyes

And the cat looks bewildered too

“Aren’t you supposed to be the one telling me what to do?!?”- cat

Hah, as if a cat has any notion that it's not exactly where it was ordained to be: atop all social, economic, and religious structures.

Nobody tells cats what to do.

I for one welcome our new fluffy overlord.

WTF what happened to Larry? What is this treason?

[–] otter@lemmy.ca 55 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (4 children)

Larry is still around, but this new cat might be in training for the role

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/larry-the-cat-downing-street-death-b2602158.html

Downing Street officials are preparing a “media plan” to announce the eventual passing of Larry the cat.

Larry has become a widely loved fixture of Downing Street and is often seen outside the door to Number 10 during major political events and news broadcasts.

The 17-year-old ‘chief mouser’ is thought to be in his final years, having already outlived the average lifespan for a tabby cat.

While one source said that, at present, Larry is “doing OK”, another said: “We felt it had to be handled so sensitively.”

An extra fun fact:

The cat, who was adopted from Battersea Cats Home, was first brought into Downing Street by David Cameron as a pet for his children and has since outlasted five prime ministers.

Weren’t like three of them the same week?

Edit: pretty sure the kitten has already lasted longer than Lettuce Lady,

[–] Naich@lemmings.world 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

About the only good thing Cameron did.

Are you forgetting that he stepped down? The beginning of the end.

[–] a2part2@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago

He planted the seeds of disaster then ran for the hills.

[–] Baggins@feddit.uk 8 points 1 month ago

They should have a female cat name Lettuce.

[–] Annoyed_Crabby@monyet.cc 8 points 1 month ago

Outlast 5 prime ministers isn't really an accomplishment as the cat has been living there for 17 years, but thinking about it more makes me realise it should be at most 3 prime ministers in normal time, and one even lose to a lettuce.

Larry isn't a young cat. Steps need to be taken to ensure continuity of government.

[–] Annoyed_Crabby@monyet.cc 4 points 1 month ago

They better give him a funeral as big as lizzy else us ex-colonial gonna invade them back >:(

It's a little reassuring to see that Starmer makes the cat's hairs stand on end too, not just mine.

Always trust a cat.

Finally, a leader than can actually stands behind actual Labour policy.
