I love being a woman so fucking much. Thank you all for teaching me to believe in myself.

[–] thesporkeffect@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If you don't mind me asking, how long in between the pictures?

[–] ValenThyme@reddthat.com 31 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

The picture on the left is from October of last year, the picture on the right was from last night. So almost 1 year. My egg broke 4 months ago and i'm exactly 3 months on HRT!

[–] thesporkeffect@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That is incredible. You look so much happier!

[–] ValenThyme@reddthat.com 21 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Thank you! I'm a completely different and much happier person now. That pic on the left was a good one for the time and I was doing better than usual.

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's incredible, all that from just 3 months of HRT. It's really impressive. I wish I were that lucky, it took me more than 3 years to get much progress on HRT myself.

mind you i'm wearing a full face of makep there, have lost over 50lbs and spent at least 10 minutes getting that angle just right; I'm working it from every direction!

I guess that makes sense, still is incredible.

Wow, I saw this on my all/Top/6hours feed and thought, "I don't get it, why did the lady steal his hat?" until I realized what instance it was from.

(Editing to add, as a cis woman myself I have to shave my chin daily, good thing it's all gray now and less noticeable. Epilators and laser didn't work for me, so I just shave. There's more of us than you would ever know, so don't let unreasonable female beauty standards give you gender dysphoria,[further edit~~hon~~GIRL!])

😍😍😍

[–] ThelittleDoe@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Fuck, I needed that and it wasn't even directed to me 🥺

[–] bi_tux@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (3 children)

seeing this 7d later the "hon" at the end just killed me (hon is actually a term used to describe unpassing transwomen who are percieved as ugly, mostly used on 4chans /lgbt board)

[–] ValenThyme@reddthat.com 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

lol 4chan can eat shit. Hon, short for honey, is a widely used term of endearment and I don't think anyone should stop using it because of some 4chan weirdos. Don't spread their culture.

If it's not indiscrete to ask. Did the beard go with the hormones or is there still the need for you to shave? (If it indeed is to indiscrete to be answered, then please just ignore the question. 🙂)

[–] ValenThyme@reddthat.com 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

i think that's what this comm is all about!

My beard continues to grow although the rate of growth slowed a bit. It is the only thing that really gives me dysphoria.

On the daily i shave it, on the weekly i zap it with IPL to make it grow even slower/thinner.

In the near term i'm looking into epilating the parts that are safe to.

In the long term i intend to get electrolysis which is how you permanently (i think) stop the facial hair growth!

[–] Isa 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It might be the communities main purpose, but even then different people might experience the same thing with different levels of (dis-)comfort. Therefore my careful question. 🙂 Thank you very much for the copious response!

[–] ValenThyme@reddthat.com 4 points 1 month ago

your care is appreciated :) you're welcome!

[–] wetsoggybread@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not OP or trans myself but my cousin transitioned and from what I remeber she mentioned that she would need to shave and even set up laser hair removal sessions

[–] Isa 9 points 1 month ago

Thanks! 🙂

[–] Blazingtransfem98@discuss.online 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not the OP, but I am transfem myself. No unfortunately beard doesn't go away with hormones. It grows slightly more slowly and the hairs are finer, but it's still there. I haven't had laser or electrolysis to remove the hairs permanently so I still have to shave. I hate it so much, I wish my beard would just go away 😭

[–] Isa 5 points 1 month ago

Sorry to hear, that it generates that much discomfort, not only to you. 😢

[–] ted@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hormones don't stop beard growth.

[–] Isa 6 points 1 month ago

Wasn't sure about that. Thanks for the answer!

A transition that, judging from these here two pictures, could not be more extreme. You are almost unrecognizable! And to think you had all this beauty inside of you all along, just waiting to be freed. Congratulations and enjoy!
