curious: why would the fast animal consider the weapons primitive?
Because they have guns and humans don't?
The receiver is backwards and there are two ejection ports.
The two ports are for faster shooting and the backwards reciever is for faster bluetooth connections.

Note, it's a theory, so there are some arguments against it. :) Things are rarely black and white.

The evidence for it is rather shallow, realy.
It's pretty clear that persistent hunting is one of those myths concocted by someone to justify a world view that humans are "more special" than animals and has no more scientific basis than the "science" coming out of the Disney movies in the 1950s about nature.
